What's the project?
Filter Stories is offering a bag of roasted coffee from a farm called Aquiares.
This coffee farm has an amazing story: Alfonso, the farm's co-owner, tries to bring democracy to Nicaragua, is almost murdered three times for trying and ends up saving this coffee farm instead.

What's Filter Stories?
Filter Stories is a podcast revealing the untold stories hidden in your cup of coffee.
Imagine you have a cup of coffee in hand and you think to yourself "who are the people behind this cup of coffee?"
Now imagine every time you take a sip of coffee you're taken on a journey into their lives. That's Filter Stories.
I hope to turn everyday coffee drinkers into wise sages, people who actually know how their morning cup of Joe impacts the world.
Okay, so why are you offering coffee?
Listeners ask me all the time how they can try the coffees that feature in the stories.
Up to now, I've been forced to give the unhelpful answer: "Google it and see who's roasting it right now...?"
It's unhelpful because the coffee is almost always out of season or the one roaster that does have it doesn't ship it internationally or it's used in a blend somewhere...
But I have now have a solution: let's come together and buy a bag of green coffee from Aquiares, roast it up and ship it directly to you!
Let's raise €1,000 to buy 30kg of green coffee from Aquiares and ship it to my friends at Color Coffee Roasters in Eagle, Colorado. They will roast and package it up, and then it'll be on its way to you!
What's special about this coffee?
First and foremost, the story. Click play below or visit FilterStories.org.
Without Alfonso, the man in the story, this coffee probably wouldn't exist. Alfonso saved the farm from going under and transformed it.
And this coffee is particularly special. Alfonso brought in this variety - Centroamericano - in 2012. Aquiares farm is one of the first in Costa Rica to plant it and it has won awards and been represented at the World Barista Championships.
I'm picky about my coffee. What are you offering?
We will roast it medium, not too light, not too dark. Just right to be enjoyed as filter and espresso.
We can also grind the coffee to match how you drink it (drip, French press, Aeropress, etc). I'll send you a questionnaire after the Kickstarter to get these details.
Do I get anything else?
Yes! A bonus episode of Filter Stories. This is the story of when President Reagan chartered a plane just for Alfonso from Central America directly to the White House for a photo shoot. I won't spoil it for you - it's Alfonso's best story.
Oh, and really cool ringtones from sounds I collected at the farm. For example, that funky bird - the Oropendola.
I'm in! What now?
Simple! Just choose how much coffee you want.
I'll ship it anywhere in the world.
If you want to get the costs a little lower, get your friends involved, pool your money together and get multiple bags.
Risks and challenges
This is a low risk project. It is easy for me to get roasted coffee to your doorstep. Aquiares has been exporting coffee for decades, Color Roasters has been roasting and shipping coffee for years across the world.
The only minor hiccup you may experience is the time it takes to receive the coffee. This is will be due to unforeseen customs delays or shipping delays at sea for the green coffee. But this is normal and you take this risk with almost every bag of coffee you buy online.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
