WRETCHES is gritty sci-fi epic about a brother & sister who must fight against all odds to be reunited.
This is a story about family. About loss. All Shea and Sean have is each other...until they don't even have that.
WRETCHES - Volume 1 is a sci-fi graphic novel perfect for fans of movies like The Fifth Element & Blade Runner, and shows like Battlestar Galactica & Firefly. At over 150 pages (140 of which are story), readers will get thrown into an action-packed universe filled with beautifully drawn pages and cutthroat characters. In addition to the six-issue tale, backers get to see cover art, pin-ups, script excerpts, and all sorts of other behind-the-scenes content.
I started writing WRETCHES back in 2015. The story and it's characters truly grew with me as a creator these past few years, and thanks to all of YOU, I'm excited to finally be able to put the full story out into the universe!

SHEA & SEAN
On the rough streets of an alien planet, far from the one they'd called home, Shea and Sean were forced to grow up with nothing but each other. Forever outrunning the horrors of their past, they survive the only way they know how: by hunting and killing robots for profit!
When they were just children they watched the war between humans and robots destroy their planet and kill their mother and father.
Now, when Sean is kidnapped by the enemy, Shea has no choice but to tear the entire galaxy apart to find him!
The goal of the robots now is simply survival. After fleeing their home, other planets looked at them as lesser life forms. They were given no aid and left without the resources needed to survive, effectively giving them a death sentence!
Now, on the verge of finding a cure to their newfound mortality, some want to bring peace to their kind. While others threaten to rebuild and destroy those who turned their backs on them!
Here's a preview of Wretches - Issue 1.
Since writing issues 1 and 2 several years ago, I've grown as a writer. I took my red pen and did a rewrite to much of them to sharpen things up and give readers a more fleshed out look at the world and it's characters. Below is the opening scene from issue 1, re-written and lettered by the series' new letterer, Chas! Pangburn.
- In the never-ending hustle these past years to promote and get Wretches out into the world, we were able to get Issue 1 published in serialized form in China! This was very cool news when it first happened and it's still a great feeling to see your work translated in another language, and published in another country.

For myself, like so many other creators, Kickstarter has been instrumental towards helping our projects see the light of day. Our work and social media posts caught the eyes of the folks at Scout Comics, who will begin publishing the individual issues in the direct market, hopefully by the end of the year. Our goal is to put together this Kickstarter Exclusive trade, do a one-time print run, and load it with as much content as we can!
I've already invested thousands of dollars into completing much of the artwork from Issues 3 to 6 (this way the book is completed and into your hands sooner), and the funds raised here on Kickstarter will go towards completing the artwork, coloring & lettering on the remaining pages, as well as funding the print run, shipping & packaging.
Funds raised above and beyond our goal will go into stretch goals for our backers as well as be invested back into the series.
On behalf of the entire creative team, thank you so much for checking out our Kickstarter!
Risks and challenges
There are always risks when publishing comics and fulfilling backer rewards, as there are multiple parties involved and unforeseen issues cop pop up at any waking moment! As long as we stay on schedule and the printer fulfills their parts without any hiccups (knock on wood) you WILL get this book in a timely fashion once the campaign succeeds.
This is my fifth campaign, and I have delivered on every single successful one thus far. I continue to learn more from each of my campaigns, and will carry that experience into this one.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
