The goal of the game? Don't die. In this fast-paced card game of death, destiny, and deception, players compete for the kingdom in a classic battle of wits. Careful, though! Drink Wine to expand your lead, drink Water to keep your cards, but drink Poison and you'll lose half your hand! Who will live long enough to be crowned the king?

James Mayr, Jon Zhou, and Danny Romberger met at Binghamton University, brought together by their love of music and games. Between them, they have degrees in English, Math, Music, Economics, and Management, though most of those are Danny's. In the future, they hope to start a game studio where makers from across the tabletop gaming community can build their projects, but bringing their own creations to life has always been the dream.
We're thrilled to see Chalice hit its funding goal - and keep on climbing - so we started looking into ways to give you a better game. The printing company we've selected offers many options on card quality. Our current plan is to print on cardstock, but with a little more support, we can print higher-quality linen cards, which are thicker, last longer, and just feel more like cards. So we're announcing an official Stretch Goal: at $3000, Chalice will be upgraded to linen cards.
But we need your help to spread the word - Like us on Facebook and invite your fun-loving friends! So we're also announcing an official Social Goal: at 200 Facebook Likes, all of our backers will receive the Chalice music for free. See, we love composing music just as much as we love making games, which is why everything you hear in our current and upcoming Chalice videos are original orchestral tunes... and we want you to have them.
Risks and challenges
Making a game comes down to 3 steps: designing, producing, and distributing.
The game has been designed and thoroughly play-tested over the past year, with minimalist artwork completed in vector graphics software "Inkscape."
A set of potential manufacturers are lined up, with estimates on the final costs on a range of production levels, from a hundred copies up to thousands.
And for our Kickstarter backers, distribution is as easy as sending your game to the address you provide. Potential risks include delays from production errors or damage from shipping and handling. We endeavor to resolve all such issues in a timely and professional manner.
We hope to sell our excess copies to mom & pop board game stores - the ones where you shop - so we'll be sending out a survey seeking your help to make it happen! This is exciting for us, and we'll be sure to keep you informed of everything that happens along the way at facebook.com/chalicethegame and chalicethegame.com.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
