Easy 3 Steps Installation
Installation of FlipFlic takes seconds. In one click, the small device about the size of a roll of quarters attaches to your window blinds magnetically. No tools needed!
Horizontal and Vertical Blinds
FlipFlic for Horizontal Blinds fits horizontal Venetian blinds, where the twist / rod / tilting wand can be detached. Please check your blinds beforehand. FlipFlic works with 1''/25mm/ mini blinds up to 78'' (200 cm) wide and 2''/50 mm/ blinds up to 60'' (152 cm) wide.

FlipFlic for Vertical Blinds has the same features. It works with vertical blinds with either wand- or chain- control of the slats position. It is super easy to install. Snap FlipFlic from either side of the headrail right on the rotating shaft. It also detaches easily. Make sure you have 2 inches to the wall from either side of the headrail to fit the device.
You will choose between a horizontal or vertical blinds version after the campaign has ended.
Automatic Control
Wouldn't it be great if your blinds could adjust by themselves? No need to take out your phone. We fitted FlipFlic with a timer, light and temperature sensors. We developed default software algorithms to keep the amount of sunlight and heat at your comfort level. FlipFlic makes sure it is never too hot or too cold.
Solar-Powered
FlipFlic is absolutely autonomous. It has a built-in battery, recharged via micro USB with a solar panel. There is no need for power outlets or battery replacements.
A solar panel, installed indoors, harnesses the sunlight. Simply stick it to the window glass. If you choose not to use the solar panel or are in a dark or shaded window, FlipFlic is easily removed for periodic charging via standard MicroUSB cable (included). Without the solar panel, we estimate that recharging may be required approximately once every 30 days of average use.

FlipFlic App
With FlipFlic, app users can program all settings individually. You can instantly open/close the blinds, or simply let FlipFlic use its light and temperature sensors and adjust automatically.

Smart Home Integration
FlipFlic can be integrated into your pre-existing smart home systems via BLE and ZigBee.

We are members of Icontrol Labs, which ensures the ZigBee firmware in FlipFlic will be Icontrol-certified and available to users of supported smart home solutions powered by Icontrol Networks. This means Flipflic will be compatible with other Icontrol-supported products (like ADT Pulse, Xfinity Home, PEQ, Piper) and eligible for distribution through their service provider channels.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURING
The FlipFlic's design is set. We are now moving into integrations and pre-production. This means we expect to see only minor changes before product release. Our next phase will be focused on testing for design validation, PCB, and design updates after tests, completing the required certifications, packaging design, and spinning up our production lines. A detailed timeline is provided below.
PROJECT HISTORY
The First Prototype
The first proof-of-concept prototype was Wi-Fi connected and worked on 6 AA batteries. It was called Jalousier. It got lots of attention in 2014. It also secured our selection to Buildit Hardware Accelerator where we became the company and started working on the project full-time. The FlipFlic team moved to Estonia, where in 9 months, we built a sellable and scalable prototype, took first pre-orders, and raised a small angel round
The Second Prototype
Comfee, our next prototype already had a custom PCB. A two-module system allowed for installation on the right and left sides of blinds. It was a fully functioning BLE beta. We soft-molded it in silicon and made 100 beta-units. Getting to this stage allowed us to secure angel funding and get selected to Highway1 Accelerator in San Francisco, USA. We also learned a lot about delivering a hardware product and all the hidden costs.
We shipped over 100 units of our beta design.
The Final Prototype and Vertical Version
It has taken a while! The team relocated the company and business to the US in August 2015. During the three-month program, leading hardware experts and founders of other smart home companies advised us.
A trip to China, Shenzhen to establish the connection to Chinese manufacturers brought FlipFlic to the next level. Now the team is ready to ramp up mass production.
We are proud to present to the Kickstarter community our final generation of FlipFlic Horizontal and its new version: FlipFlic Vertical. But, there is more to come!
We believe new products should be born from the needs and wishes of the consumer.

Risques et défis
It is very hard to create and bring to the market a consumer electronics product. It took us 2 years, 3 relocations, tons of energy and patience to get where we are now. But since we have a solid team and have solved most of the technical challenges to date, we believe we will be able to solve the ones we haven't yet discovered.
We are also part of Hardware Accelerators and technical communities in Europe, USA and China and are surrounded by friends who have successfully funded and fulfilled Kickstarter campaigns. We seek their advice and pay attention.
As with most new hardware and smart device applications, some bugs and problems may surface; we have experienced it before when we shipped our beta samples and everything bad what could happen happened. Time showed that our team can handle any issues, and we are connected to outside developers that we can call upon to break technical log-jams.
Also, we are responsible for unforeseen circumstances and promise to keep every backer informed if something doesn’t go according to plan.
