Converting site generating feature from prototype into production
Thank you all for backing us and trusting us to be able to create an awesome product!
Just a quick update about the development of Document Node.
We've been working on converting the prototype into production code. It's been going very well. A basic version of site generator is working now.
From a plaintext folder, we can get a documentation site automatically. The left side navigation is mapped from the folder structure directly, and the right side TOC is working as well, which means when clicking on different headings, it will jump to the corresponding sections of the article. All links on generated web pages are relative URLs, so we can open any HTML files and preview as a website; also we can upload the output folder to static hosting directly.
The most significant difference from other site generators is that the site generator of Document Node will be part of the lightweight application. With ZERO configuration, users can use it directly. And, it will be fast, given it's written in C++ and has full potential for performance optimisation.
Next step we will focus on the following items:
* Converting the live-reload prototype into production code and integrate into the main application
* Polishing inline editing and implement features which allow users to change page layouts etc. in place, without any other admin UI.
We expect more effort to work on the page layouts customisation, to make it the simplest way to use.
In two or three weeks, we will have more to show, through videos or Kickstarter live. Please stay tuned.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to send us a message whenever you have any questions. We will answer every single question of our backers immediately.
