Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely. Users can use Document Node with any other hosting platform or personal hosting.
Our principle is to resolve real problems of users. If users find any other hosting platform or personal hosting is a better choice, we will encourage them to do so. For example, S3 or Github pages, etc. could be an excellent choice to host static web pages.
If backers need this, we will add a feature to the desktop application so that users can publish to S3 or other hosting easily. All backers with LifeTime Access will enjoy this with free updates forever. Please feel free to let me know which hosting services you'd like to use, we will add support in Document Node.
The goal of our hosting services is to resolve other problems (e.g. permission of posts, team collaboration, comments, statistics and so on) where static hosting services cannot provide. In the future, after we understand more about our cost, we would like to switch to a pay-by-usage model. That is, if the number of monthly views of a site is low, we may be able to provide hosting services free of charge.Last updated:
In the future, after we understand more about our cost, we would like to switch to a pay-by-usage model. That is, if the number of monthly views of a site is low, we may be able to provide hosting services free of charge.
For now, please see the regular pricing for non-backers from this page (<https://documentnode.io/pricing>), which includes desktop applications and hosting services combined.
We are offering different layers of discounts to our backers only. For Lifetime access backers, the base hosting price will be 20% OFF of the regular price forever.
Take a 'VIP + Beta Access' backer as an example. He will get:
* A t-shirt
* Beta access before anyone else
* Lifetime access to desktop apps with free updates forever
* Six-month free hosting from Aug 2019 - Feb 2020
* 60% off for the first two years hosting. It means from Feb 2020 to Feb 2022, if the backer chooses Pro plan, the monthly subscription fee could be: USD 17 * 0.8 * 0.6 = USD 8.16; If the backer chooses Startup plan, the monthly subscription fee could be: USD 57 * 0.8 * 0.6 = 27.36 USD
After the Kickstarter campaign ends, we will not provide Lifetime access to desktop applications and discounts to hosting services any more.

The Kickstarter campaign will finish on Feb 22.
The beta version of Document Node desktop will be out at the end of April 2019, but we will release alpha versions to some backers in the middle of April.
Version 1.1 will only be released to backers because we would like to 100% concentrate on supporting our early backers. The general public will not have access before Aug 2019.

Yes, we will definitely make it for iOS (iPhone, iPad) as well as Android after we release the desktop applications.
The priority will depend on how many backers demand this.Last updated:
The Fountain markup language is elegant for writing screenplays. We've already put it in our roadmap. At the moment, our prototype application supports Markdown, which is very similar to supporting Fountain.
We will do more research on how to optimise the text editor and instant publishing for screenplays.
It requires some effort, so the priority will depend on how many backers demand this.Last updated:
