Five years ago students at Phillipsburg High School asked if we could run a comic-con at our school to help fund our school's comic elective courses. The kids meant it as a joke, but we did it anyway. We spent the entire year contacting guests, screening vendors, organizing floor plans, and preparing for kids activities. Their hard work allowed our low income community to attend an affordable show with an incredible guest lineup. What began as a fundraiser to benefit our school turned into a literacy event to benefit our community and charities.
This year, on May 12th, we are putting on our fourth annual comic-con, a show with over 40 writers and artists, all of whom donate their time to promote comic literacy and bring the classic comic-con feel to a community at an affordable price! Our guests his year include Klaus Janson, G. Willow Wilson, Scott Hanna, Lee Weeks, Amy Chu, Mark Morales and many, many more. However, with our success has come an additional challenge: as we have added more creators and minimized our vendor tables, our costs have grown. We are trying to raise at least $2000 of our remaining $4,500 to cover administrative costs - table rentals, guest transportation costs, staff shirts, volunteer food costs, advertising banners, and kids activity supplies - so that we can put on this show for our town.
Our past and current guests wanted to help the kids raise money, so we have unbelievable tiers - commissions, Skypes, and signed prints! You have an incredible opportunity to get some one of a kind items while helping bring the comic-con experience to a low-income community!
If, by chance, we blow past $2000 and bring over the $4500 we need, additional funds will be banked to help with next year's show.

Here is your chance to own items that were only previously available in limited numbers during in-school sales or at previous conventions, plus the never before sold water bottle. Shirts will be printed on Gildan Ultra Cotton T-Shirts.
We have over 20 commissions available at various pledge levels, including from artists that are not currently accepting commissions. All commissions are single character and will be at least the size of a backing board. *Please note that any commissions will be mailed after the show and separately from any other items, with the delivery time depending on the artist's schedule and workload
In addition to commissions, we have reward tiers for the aspiring creators among our backers, including portfolio and script reviews from editors and creators.
One of these creators will take the time to review one of your comic scripts, up to 24 comic pages and email you comments and advice

These will be at least 15 minutes long with the creators. Please note the Skype tiers were created specifically for educators, librarians, and shop owners/managers. If the creator feels misled or uncomfortable, they have the right to end the session early with no refund.

The Project Creators:
Risks and challenges
We have run the show for 3 years - the venue and tables are reserved, the guests and vendors are booked, and the volunteers have already signed up. Our biggest challenge is getting the funding to put on a show with the most guests yet!
The shirts, bags, and bottles are being printed by CustomInk, who have printed products for us for several events in the past and never let us down.
Estimated dates for any tiers with creator rewards may be delayed due to creators' schedules.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
