ABOUT THE PROJECT
Secret Vinyl Club is an organization dedicated to inspire, interact, and inform the vinyl record community. The organization's “background“ is the comic book's ficitional story. The young record collector, Rosie, tries to save the vinyl community from extinction then creates a club of like minded individuals.
This project campaign is to help create a physical copy of Secret Vinyl Club Volume 1 comic book and limited edition orange 12" vinyl record soundtrack. Inside the comic are 52 missions for record collectors to participate by completing the challenge then taking a photo to share online with a special hashtag.
The book and music are suitable for a lot of ages. The creator, Jacquelin‘s last album Space Cadette was awesome fun for kids. They loved the comic and dancing to the music.

12" Colored Vinyl Record
Secret Vinyl Club's soundtrack is original to the comic book. It's all instrumental electronic downtempo, chill-wave, and a little experimental. Theres a few different tracks some are more mellow while others more energetic. The music in the video above is a song from the album to get an idea of it. All of the music was made by the creator using random sounds, acoustic instruments, midi electronic instruments, and licensed loops. If you'd like to hear more of the music you can look at two tracks and her previous album here: Music Examples

WHO IS THE CREATOR?
Jacquelin is a musician, writer and artist living in Austin, TX. Her love for music started at a super young age of 5 when she would take piano classes and sing in chorus. She spent a lot of time going to record stores with her dad. Her artistic side was influenced by watching her mom create beautiful paintings as a kid.
In high school Jacquelin was in band as a drummer and percussionist then at night she attended a local college to take art classes. Her first classes as a dual enrollment student were drawing, photography, and 2-D Design. After graduating high school she attended a film school where she was able to hone in on her story telling and sound mixing skills. She wanted to create something with pictures, story, and sound together. This project allows her to use the creative energy she has into creating pictures, story, and sound all at once.
Jacquelin works a day job in sales which allows her a semi-structured schedule and money. Almost all her free time is spent working on her projects. This first comic book is based loosely on her own life experiences.
When she was in high school her father passed away and a couple months later the local record store they would visit all the time shut down. It always bothered her and even to this day when she visits her hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida to see the store is not there anymore.
Secret Vinyl Club has released a couple eBooks and a printed comic in the past as a collaboration with Anthony Pizzo creating the illustration. This is the first book in the Secret Vinyl Club universe that is written, illustrated, and scored by Jacquelin.
This project is being funded on Kickstarter to be financially and environmentally cautious. The preorders are specifically designed so Jacquelin can order the amount needed with a limited edition of 500 records. The campaign avoids having to go anymore out of pocket and makes sure there is no waste. A lot of the other things required to create the project have already had invested time and funds to.
WHERE ARE THE FUNDS GOING?
This project is looking to raise $4,444. This is a estimated breakdown of expenses:
WHEN WILL IT BE READY?
The entire comic book is already drawn and colored. The majority of the music is already recorded. Little details such as lettering and finalizing the comic are still in process. The record and comic are set to ship around February 2020. This gives the record pressing a good amount of time for sound mixing and creating lacquers.
Risks and challenges
This is the first time Secret Vinyl Club is printing in color. Making sure the color is as intended to be seen will be a challenge however it should be easy as we have used this vendor before. The biggest vinyl challenge with the record will be working the pressing process. The tentative vendor's pressing plant is local in Austin which will make it a lot easier to get done. We were recommended to give at least 60 days for it to process. We decided that February 2020 would be a safe amount of time as we can make sure everything is pressed correctly. A fun challenge is that the 52 missions have not been created yet.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
