HOW YOUR MONEY WILL HELP / BE SPENT
For an in depth budget break down, you can view it here. This is purely a work-in-progress at this point, but it'll give you an idea of where $100,000 would be spent.
In a nutshell, your contribution will go towards:
- Permits: If we're going to film a shootout between four criminals and two cops on the south west side of Chicago, well we kinda need permission/permits to do it. The permits are cheap, the police officer you have to hire to supervise is not.
- Props: Guns, lots of guns.
- Food: A hungry crew is an unhappy crew.
- Crew: DPs, Grips, Assistants, etc...
- Actors: Without good acting, what's the point? And with a bigger budget, the better talent we can attract.
- Equipment.- A Red Epic, a Canon 7D, an Infiniti G37x, a Lexus IS 250, a Black Lexus SUV, a 4000 square foot home, ya know stuff like that. We actually have access to all of those except one, can you guess which one?
This Kickstarter campaign is to produce the movie.
This not only involves actual principal photography, but lots of pre-production work testing different camera packages, location scouting, wardrobe testing, and casting to name a few plus post-production work such as sound mixing and color grading.

This will be my first foray into directing. I've been a writer up until now. I've been optioned, and this particular script has placed in the semi-finals of Project Greenlight 3 and the quarter-finals in Blue Cat's annual screenwriting competition.

I think Brian's reel speaks for itself. He's worked on several shorts and some features including Nate & Margaret which received three stars from Roger Ebert. His experience alone makes me confident in not only completing this film but making the most beautiful film possible. And by beautiful I mean dark and gritty and noiry (not a real word)

You may recognize Chris as "Sergei" from "The Wire". He was kind enough to provide his voice for some animatic work we ended up not using. If we meet our goal he's definitely on the short list, if he's available and still interested.
Dan Distefano: Producer @DanDistefano
Dan works at a production company in Los Angeles. He's worked at Paramount and the Weinstein Co. After receiving the script through a friend he became immediately interested. Originally having an idea to shoot a short based off the script as an "extended trailer" we later decided to just shoot the full feature.

CONE ROD DYSTROPHY
I was diagnosed with cone rod dystrophy when I was six years old. You can read all about it here. In certain cases it does lead to complete blindness, that being the total absence of light perception, which is probably what you think of when you hear the word "blind". However, this particular disease starts with poor color vision, then deteriorating night vision, and ultimately extreme tunnel vision as I demonstrate in the video. I'm hoping that day is a long, long way away. Over the last several years, my vision seems to have stabilized. It gets slightly worse year over year, but as far as I can tell, and according to my annual eye exam - it's stable. As I mention in the video, that was true for my brother until a few years ago, which pretty much scares the crap out of me. I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me, or to back the project because they feel bad. The last thing I want this project to be is a Sarah McLachlan Animal Cruelty commercial. My hope is that you find the film/project/concept interesting and want to see it made by someone who just happens to be visually impaired, as opposed to helping someone visually impaired make a movie you have no interest in.

Project Greenlight was a screenwriting competition started by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck where they produced the winning screenplay. It was a great idea, a great show, but produced pretty sub par films. The two writers from season three, who beat out my script, went on to write five of the SAW films and the second season launched Shia LaBeouf's career.
