INDIGO APPAREL is a social brand created with the simple idea of taking things slow. We believe in the power of taking a slow journey through life, and are inspired by appreciation for the little things. Our clothing represents who we are, and what we care about. INDIGO is a different kind of eco-friendly clothing brand. We're constantly learning, dreaming, exploring- and our goal is to inspire that in you.
Organic Eco-Fashion 2015 Collection:
INDIGO'S Summer 2015 Organic Collection leaves you feeling free and comfortable- and at the same time keeps your conscious clear. With the highest-quality organic materials, and no use of animal products or toxic dyes, you can finally get the comfort and feel of luxury apparel. We forget sometimes how even the less complicated things in life can have the greatest impact. They impact how you feel about yourself- and about the world you live in. These days, it is easy to get caught up in "fast-fashion". To buy and throw away season after season, and feel no remorse about it. So many things are going to waste, and we don't generally take in to account how that can effect our planet earth. With INDIGO'S entire 2015 collection, you can dress for any time -day to night- and know that the packaging has been made from recycled material. That's just one less thing wasted in the world, and a little bit less clutter on our planet.
The Fine Print:
Made in the USA:
Every last product that we sell has been hand made here in the United States of America. That means more precision- capability for small production and higher quality products, more jobs for people here in the States, and less energy wasted on sending things back and forth across the globe. Made in the USA ensures good working conditions and fair wages. It means supporting your neighbor, and we're proud of that.
INDIGO AS A FOUNDATION FOR CREATION
ZERO WASTE INITIATIVE:
Water scarcity already affects every continent. Around 1.2 billion people, or almost one-fifth of the world's population, live in areas of physical scarcity, and 500 million people are approaching this situation. Water impacts everything. A single mill in China can use 200 tons of water for each ton of fabric it dyes; many rivers run with the colors of the season as the untreated toxic dyes wash off from mills. To make matters worse, millions of tons of unused fabric at Chinese mills go to waste each year when they're dyed the wrong color.
Lack of clean and safe water, poor sanitation, and inappropriate hygiene practices push already disadvantage sections of a community into deeper illness, poverty and indignity. INDIGO APPAREL will not be a contributor to these conditions in any community. Using low-impact, 100% non-toxic dyes, we continue to hand dye each item, as though we are making it for ourselves.
Cutting, sewing, and general manufacturing of goods leaves wasted material- an estimated 14.3 million tons of textile waste was generated in 2012. INDIGO'S ZERO WASTE INITIATIVE seeks out designers of all kinds, and works with them to pass along unused fabric pieces and scraps to give the textiles a second life. This is an ongoing collaboration with multiple designers- and so far so good. In the past 2 years, we've thrown out less than 3 lbs. of fabric waste.

Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges and risks is timing. Getting your rewards produced and sent by the date given- July. We've done our best to avoid delays by preparing ourselves and seamstresses with all patterns, prints, and samples.
The minute we reach our goal, we can say "GO!", and the production of your products will begin. The sooner we reach the goal, the sooner we can work on getting your rewards to you!
Due to the nature of our special fabrics and our emphasis on quality, the manufacturing process for our garments is a little more complicated than average. We will manage the process very closely and if products aren’t up to par - adjustments will be made that could delay shipments. Our first priority it to deliver the best product we can.
We aren’t expecting it, but if major complications occur, our community of supporters will be the first to know. We will provide consistent updates and communicate our issues and solutions clearly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
