It is said that Fay gave life by her own hand. Upon the runes, she carved the tree where each woman came into life, each one the ruler of individual worlds, displayed like fruit on its branches.
A New Order is an artistic exploration of magic, intrigue and divinity. An imagined world formed from a passion for compelling story and imagery. Fay's Tree, the first instalment in the series, takes you on a journey through creation from the very beginning.
With your help I would like to collect the images from the first chapter into a calendar for 2020.
The calendar will be A3 (297 X 420mm) in size, with full colour prints on 250GSM paper with a matt finish. Each month features character artwork as a printed full page, as well as their representative symbol on the reverse. All calendars will be hand signed on the cover and include the names and a special thank you to every one of you that makes this happen.
In an attempt to find balance, Fay inspired each of them to follow a pure path, one of great divinity and strength. To find their counterparts in this quest across planes of time, presented to them on altars and sigils, solar flares and stardust were spun into threads and woven into their roots. Guided by her hand they each found strength to prevail; strength of their own. A power of sorts to fulfil their given path.
Fay’s tree, a physical construct of her story, an order of existence. With no beginning or end, just living and breathing, as part of a whole.
The 12 characters of this chapter follow individual stories of war, peace, loss, knowledge and much more. Being the central figure, Fay is known as The Architect - Creator of the Stars and this imagined world is formed from her as the point of creation.
I enjoy painting imaginary characters and writing the story of their journey. This project was birthed from a celebration of painting the female form. If you would like to find out more information about the project head to the 'A New Order' page here: jackbakerart.com/a-new-order
All of the artwork is complete and the layout is ready. Should the campaign be successful, the calendar will go to print as soon as kickstarter funds reach me. I expect to have all rewards dispatched within six weeks of the campaign ending.
If you would like to combine tiers or purchase multiple copies of a tier, you may increase your pledge to cover the total amount of them added together. After the campaign ends, I will reach out to anyone with extra funds pledged to survey them about what additional rewards they are interested in.
In the past I have used cellophane bags to package prints etc. In an attempt to reduce plastic waste, I have opted for a biodegradable option from Eco Craft. These bags are made from vegetable starch and are 100% biodegradable and compostable, which means that they break down to CO2 and water which can then be reused in the ecosystem to make new plants. You can read more here.
Risks and challenges
The Calendar and other reward items will be produced by suppliers I have used before and trust to produce high quality items. All of the artwork and the layout are ready for print, and I have spent some time creating a physical prototype so I can test what does and does not work. I am confident there will be no hold ups with the production however a buffer has been built into my schedule to allow for any unforeseen circumstances.
Should there be any changes or delays these will be communicated in a timely manner.
