Every person who contributes $11 or more will receive every PDF issue of Quandary as they are released. (I can't edit the reward text on the right, so I figured I'd tell you this way.)
What is QUANDARY?
Quandary is a digital comic of a story that takes place twenty years in the future. In this future, we all live in a 'police state'. We've been at war in the Middle East, where hundreds die every day, for the last thirty years. Protesters in the 'We the People' movement are regarded as terrorists, hunted down and executed for challenging the system. Basic rights are being stripped away, one mandate at a time. Then, one event—an accidental death―inadvertently sets in motion the wheels of a revolution, and tyranny begins eroding from within.
If Quandary were a mixed drink, the recipe would be: 2 parts George Orwell's 1984, 2 parts 'life as we know it', and 1 part Occupy movement.

Why raise funds for a digital comic?
Aside from printing costs, there is no financial difference between a digitally published comic and a printed one. ISBN numbers still have to be registered, creative contributors still need to be compensated, files continue to require hosting, and the importance of promotional materials remains. If successful, this Kickstarter will offset the cost of all of these items, ensuring that publish-ready issues meet a monthly deadline.
Provisionally, we are saying that Quandary will appear over nine issues that are around twelve pages each. The primary Artist, Ken Frederick, will be responsible for illustrating the bulk of these issues. However, three issues will feature the work of guest artists. A few more guest artists will contribute to creating promotional art. This project is a labor of love for Ken and me, so we both will be working, unpaid.
Will this digital comic also be printed?
Yes! Issue #1 will be printed inside the Kickstarter Exclusive ‘Making of Quandary’ magazine, along with information and images from the development process, concept art, and more!
Furthermore, the series, when complete (est. 8/2013), will be printed in full and bound into both a softcover and hardcover edition available for purchase on Amazon, as well as at various comic shops in the NYC/NJ area.

That's pretty cool! Tell me about the REWARDS.
Sure thing! As you can see on the right, there are several different reward levels to accommodate all different pledge opportunities. Each reward description is specific in what it includes, so please don't worry about having to remember what the the lower-end rewards were in order to get an accurate picture of what your reward will be. No 'researching'. This is Kickstarter . . . not a term paper.
We've been able to collaborate with some amazing people over the past two years. They have shown their support of our Quandary project by offering their time, talents, and handiwork―all to help us meet our fundraising goal. Now a lucky few contributors will be able to have a one-of-a-kind oil painting by Richard P. Clark, a few budding comics writers will get to have a 22-page script reviewed by an IDW-published comics professional, and a few others will have the opportunity to be heard by an audience of about a hundred thousand with my friends, Ming and Mike, on a SmodCo podcast! If those rewards don't suit you, we have some classic reward items—sketches, prints, and a 'making of' magazine, to name a few—to offer as well.
UPDATE: Celebrate Independence! Every contributor gets a free PDF of the independently produced one-shot zombie apocalypse-themed comic called THE FORGOTTEN DEAD. This comic was penciled and inked by Ken Frederick, main artist on Quandary, and written by Chris Murphy, friend & supporter!THE FORGOTTEN DEAD tells the story of the Museum of Modern Art's curators' last ditch efforts to save some of the world's most treasured and all-but-forgotten masterpieces before the museums perimeters were breached by the undead.
UPDATE (6/29): New T-shirt reward launched at the $35 level!
($35 reward includes T-shirt, 11 x 17 Kickstarter exclusive print, 'Making of Quandary' magazine, PDF of issue #1, and a mention of thanks on the Quandary web site.)
Please note: If your reward needs to be sent outside the US, please add $5 to to your contribution to help with the added shipping cost. Thank you so much!
What happens if this Kickstarter raises more than $2,500?
The original Kickstarter goal of $2,500 is sufficient only to offset the total cost of putting this project together. By no means will it cover the project in its entirety. If we happen to exceed our Kickstarter goal, then the funds in excess of $2,500 will be put toward the remaining costs of developing this project.
If the Kickstarter goal is greatlyexceeded and the current estimated project costs are more than paid by what's raised here, then the available funds will be put toward our wish list items: hiring a dedicated colorist, having a consulting editor, enlisting additional guest artists, producing the aforementioned hardcover and softcover editions of the completed series, and giving the creative team a bonus.
Thank you for your consideration, support, and generosity!
More art to come... stay tuned! :-)
