Into the Black: Boarding Party is a semi-cooperative space pirate dungeon crawling game with a traitor element.
Play as a fierce band of space pirates who have boarded an unknown enemy vessel, set on accomplishing their primary mission while each pirate has their own secret goal to fulfill.
Explore the ship one section at a time, loot the vessel of its bounty, fend off a seemingly unending wave of enemy defenders and encounter a potentially lethal series of events around every corner; All while keeping morale high as the clock ticks down to your potential capture.
Be wary of the the traitor among you, out for personal glory at the expense of the rest of the crew!

Each player randomly selects a Character Board to represent the crew member they are playing, equips that character using loot cards and selects their personal goal (deal 2 goal cards to each player and they may select one, returning the other to the box), one of which may be a Traitor!
The players also draw a Primary Mission for the group to complete cooperatively (in addition to each players secret goal).
Place the Airlock and initial set of corridors and rooms and you are ready to play!
- In each round players take turns determined by the leadership value on their character board.
- Select up to two actions (Move, Search, Equip/Trade items or Use Items) on their turn. Each character also has their own special abilities to utilize!
- Any time a player moves in to a new room the tile is flipped face up and a number of events cards are drawn and resolved.
- When a player encounters enemies their turn ends and they will enter combat with those enemies after all players have taken their actions for that round.
- At the end of each full round the Apprehension Track is moved up by one, new corridors and rooms are placed and the enemy defenders will move about the ship seeking out the intruders!
Attempt to accomplish your groups primary mission while simultaneously completing your own personal, secret, goal, both before reaching any one or any combination of loss conditions at the end of a round of play.
One of those personal goals may be a traitor goal, throwing a wrench into everyone's plans!
Simply remove the personal goals for a fully cooperative or solo-play game!
DICE AND MITIGATED LUCK
The success of combat and search actions are determined through the use of a set of custom dice based on the character board being used and a number modifiers added throughout the game by loot cards or special character abilities.

Risks and challenges
Everything has been quoted extensively, and the reward tiers and goals amounts meticulously poured over and set so that when we fund, we will be able to fulfill all backer rewards.
We have chosen a reputable game manufacturer that is experienced in the field and have a backup manufacturer just in case!
We have spoken with reputable fulfillment companies that are experienced in fulfilling Kickstarter funded games and will make use of their services when the time comes!
We already have great relationships with our artists, so finishing up the minor bit of art that is left will be short work... In fact, we're having them do more as the campaign progresses!
A major fluctuation in the value of the Canadian dollar could cause a hiccup, but this is a low possibility and would require a MASSIVE drop in the value of our dollar over the US dollar. If this is to happen before the end of the campaign, and it will have a serious negative effect, we will consider cancelling the campaign and restarting when the climate normalizes. If this is to happen after funding, we will STILL fulfill all pledges, as we are already putting several thousand dollars our own money into the process; it just may take a little longer than anticipated.
When Into the Black: Boarding Party is funded, it will be produced and delivered in a timely manner. Some of the stretch goals may increase production time slightly but the majority of the pre-manufacturing work has already been completed.
Yes, things like manufacturing delays can happen, but we have a buffer built into our schedule to reasonably account for these types of delays.
