Buying polarizing film, orienting it correctly and pasting it on a pair of glasses is a great way to create your own pair of screen blocking glasses (it’s how we made our first prototypes)! We love DIY projects and encourage anyone interested in making their own to totally do it!
Our prototypes helped us validate our original idea but the design was lacking, the film easily peeled off, the frames were cheap, they lacked a UV filter, and would not pass as a viable, consumer-facing product.
Working with a manufacturer to develop a high-quality pair of glasses to be produced at scale is whole different challenge and one that has come with many additional costs including but not limited to design, manufacturing, packaging, distribution, taxes, customer service, and gatherings for our amazing team of volunteers who’ve put so much blood sweat and tears into this project!
We wish our price could be lower, but unfortunately the current pricing structure is as low as we felt comfortable going so that we wouldn’t lose money as the demand scaled.
