About this project
UPDATE - I've had some wonderful suggestions for content in the book! Please keep your suggestions coming! They really are helping to ensure that the book is as complete and informative as possible!
My name is Rachelle, and as you probably gathered from the video above, I've written a book that I'm pretty excited about!
Who are you? is a book that I hope will help children to understand each other and accept those around us who are different than ourselves and our families. It's clear that the biggest differences between people lies in religion and faith. These things can be confusing and scary to children and even more so, to adults! That's why I've written this book. How can you possibly accept someone and learn to love them if you don't understand who they are?
I believe that the most important trait a person can possess is compassion. This is what I hope to teach my children and any other children I'm able to reach. Compassion comes with understanding and understanding comes with education. This is the entire reason behind my book!
Did you know that being an Atheist is okay? Were you aware that being a Muslim can be way cool? I bet you haven't even thought about how interesting Buddhism is. Believe it or not, Agnostics are not evil. Hinduism is fascinating and being Jewish is pretty awesome. Christianity can be pretty neat. The important thing to remember is compassion and acceptance for all faiths. As long as you RESPECT the people around you, the world will be a better place.
This is the "working cover" for my book, mind you everything will be streamlined and look much more professional once I raise enough to hire the help for formatting and finishing the editing of the illustrations!!!
I plan on publishing my book both in digital and print formats. If any of the "packages" aren't to your liking, let me know and we can do something specifically for you! I've had requests for larger orders so that books can be donated to libraries and schools and that is definitely something that can be done! Message me and we can work it out. I would love to get this to as many children as possible as I really feel that it will help them to understand the people around them and the world as a whole.
The digital copies will actually be PDFs, so if you pick that reward, you can print as many high resolution copies as you like! No Joke... Feel free to spread them around like weeds!
The print copies will be self published and professionally, full color printed. At this point we are assuming it will be between 32 and 45 pages. We are trying to cut it down to make sure it isn't too long, as we know how short attention spans can be!
For those of you who will be getting a button, this is what is will look like!
AND for those receiving a tote bag...
Please let me know if you have any suggestions of questions. I will do my best to answer you as soon as I can!
I am attempting to get some of the illustrations up for you all to see, please be patient as my iMac is being incredibly difficult right now! Also, check out the website here http://www.wix.com/itsyourtruth/web we can always use more people arguing and trying to get their point across in our TALK section :)
*Check out my profile picture... by the way... it was myself and my husband saying goodbye to Mustache March.
