About

It’s A Good Life, Babe podcast is a New Orleans culture show, recording weekly for close to 3 years with over 200 shows published and distributed. Our show strives to be culturally relevant, current, fun, but also document today and the last 40 years in such a way that on occasion we have a show that should go in a time capsule for future anthropologists, or aliens, or cockroaches.

We recorded 13 episodes remotely from the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in 2017, and have been invited back for this year’s upcoming festival, June 13- 16.

We have never solicited sponsors for the podcast until making some effort to obtain sponsorship to support this Bonnaroo trip.  While we have made some inroads with a few brands towards future partnerships, the timing just wasn’t right at the moment for those brands interested in aligning themselves with the show.

As a last ditch effort, we have launched this Kickstarter campaign.  We are only trying to raise enough funds to recoup our hard costs, which are approximately $3,500.  These funds are our hard costs and go towards a Class B RV rental, gas for driving from New Orleans, food & supplies/ gear.  Our friends at Bonnaroo are giving us press credentials, a production area trailer in which to record, and a complementary space for our RV.  We will travel with all audio recording gear from our New Orleans studio.

While we are a New Orleans culture podcast, as evidenced in our 2017 shows from Bonnaroo, we’re able to find plenty of New Orleans related subject matter at one of the biggest and festivals in the world. Guests from Bonnaroo 2017 included Greg Harris, the CEO of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame; Patrick Clifford who produced the Neville Brothers’ Yellow Moon album; and Rick Farman, original founder of Superfly Presents (started in New Orleans) and promoter of Bonnaroo.  Bonnaroo, named after the Dr. John album, and is a creole term meaning 'good stuff', is intrinsically tied to New Orleans and the spirit of our show.

Risks and challenges

We've done this before in 2017 at Bonnaroo, going out of pocket and camping on-site in the Guest Area and afforded a production trailer for recording the show. Due to some personal circumstances, we need to have an RV for this go-round, plus it's really hot and/or muddy. We know the lay of the land at Bonnaroo, having worked as freelancers at the festival for 10+ years, and don't expect any problems producing our podcast from the festival site. In 2017 at Bonnaroo, we streamlined our production process such that we recorded (3) shows per day and published each episode prior to beginning the next recording.

Also, we've updated our recording gear recently for a mobile and professional podcasting rig. Our biggest challenge is accommodations (which will double as our transit from NOLA to Bonnaroo) on the festival site that allows easy access to the recording studio backstage and affords us opportunities to get required rest and sleep. When we leave the festival site on Monday, June 17, there will be at least 15 hours of audio podcast content about music, arts, and culture published to the ether, and for archival purposes, that would not exist without your support here.

    Presented By Sponsorship

For any Friends of the Good Life who work with a brand directly or indirectly that might be interested in being the presenting sponsor of our (13) Bonnaroo podcast episodes, please pass this along. The presenting sponsor will be named as such at the top and bottom of each episode, and we will deliver a 'live read' about the brand/product/service once per each episode. We will also include brand integration in all social media platforms we use to promote the shows. We can also add customized assets integrating the brand and podcast.
