The furry community is a worldwide gathering of people of all ages, centered around one passion: animals. For years we have traded art, characters, stories, and anything else our imagination would let us create!
Many furries have characters who represent them, and yearn to see them come to life. What if you could create them, piece them together bit by bit, right on your Internet browser, then use this avatar to interact with other furries? Well, that’s exactly the plan: a browser-based multiplayer game : World of Furries!
The game's Discord server can be found here!
We have a Twitter page!
You can email us directly at email@example.com
World of Furries (WOF) is a multiplayer browser-based game where you can create and develop your own furry character in a medieval fantasy setting. A new land has been discovered, and furries founded a village in a forest clearing, as a base to explore the rest of the world. Will you join the adventure and unravel wondrous mysteries? The common house awaits you until you can afford your own lodgings…

> World of Furries is a traditional browser game that can be compared to a first person point n' click game (exploration) with visual novel aspects (in jobs, quests & missions).
> Your character has six base stats that you will be able to increase by leveling and training. Use your energy points and become stronger!
> In-game actions include exploration of various locations, job completion for the village inhabitants, or even training by yourself.
> Loot items and craft them into new things! Sell them to other players through merchants!
> Increase your coins, the game’s currency, and ★ stars, the premium pay-for currency, and buy new items to dress your avatar, among many other things!
> New functionalities unlock around the game as you level up! You could end up with a house, or as a wizard with magic powers before you know it…
Players can communicate with each other using a private messaging system. There’s a shoutbox (mini-chat, shown in the gif above), as well as an integrated forum. You can also interact through roleplay actions available in-game! You will be able to create and manage guilds as well, whose rank will be determined by their members'.
Here's your user interface!
We will feature a total of 14 species available at launch, with many more planned! If we’re lucky enough to continue growing past our funding goal, more will be released!
You’ll be able to impersonate the classic dog, fox, wolf and cat, but also a horse, a colorful pony, a tiger, lion, stag, bear, or even a shark or an eagle!
The mythical dragon and unicorn will be available as purchasable species.
For your character customization, we use a “doll dress-up game” template, meaning that on your given character base, you’ll be able to change colors (3 to 5 presets per species), add clothes, accessories, and more.
Customizable items can be collected as you play - through exploration, purchases, accomplishments... among others!
Here is what you can do in-game to bring back loot! Most tasks cost energy, which regenerates over time, and will always yield game experience towards leveling up. Right now there are three possible actions:
Go to the village and travel through forests, mountains, drylands, among numerous locations to discover! You will explore through mini role-play stories, which can land you in good or bad situations! As you level up, more and more events await you.
Character stats include Strength, Endurance, Dexterity, Wits, Charisma, and Spirituality. The higher they become, the further you can explore and find additional stuff. You can train to improve your character!
At the village, there’s always something to do, and many characters will ask for your help in their usual daily activities, in exchange for money.
Other tasks include Missions and Quests, which will unlock strange powers that you’ll discover in time! Let’s not spoil all the fun ahead of us!
Every time you work, you learn. With enough perseverance, you’ll become good enough at a task to be noticed by a job master, who will offer you an apprenticeship. You could become either a hunter, a herbalist, a miner, or even a merchant - the only ones who can buy and sell to everyone from their shop.
All jobs have expertise levels; as you gain experience, you will unlock new crafting recipes and unique items to find.
You have an inventory where all your items go. There are several categories: some are specific to your character, such as clothing or single-use items. Other items are separated into collectibles, which are sought out by certain passionate collectors; materials, which are necessary for crafting recipes. Some crafting recipes can be used by anyone, but most are exclusive to specific jobs.
You may open an art shop in-game! Doing so will unlock a reputation bar, which will increase as you deliver art and receive positive commentary from your customers.
You’ll be able to offer commissions that other players can buy, thus reserving it. They’ll be able to pay in coins or stars, according to your preferences, which will be credited to you as soon as you send the finished art.
Real money commissions are legally impossible to support in our current situation, so WOF cannot offer or guarantee them.
To help the game grow and leave your mark (all submissions will bear your name), we offer the possibility to add your own clothes and roleplay stories! If you draw or write, that can be a good way to earn coins and stars with every contribution.
Guidelines and a quality control will be in place to ensure all contributions are up to WOF standards.
Like all Itchy games (that’s our team’s name! Fitting?), WOF is free-to-play, and not pay-to-win. The in-game purchases don’t impact a player’s energy, level or stats progression - it means that no matter how your bank account is looking, everyone is equal in the game. All pay-for options are purely for cosmetic or comfort purposes, and are how WOF will sustain itself. No ads will be implemented anywhere. This system has worked before on many famous games, and on ours, and we don’t plan on changing now!
The goals are total funding amounts we aim to reach. You can think of them as steps in our crowdfunding campaign! When we reach one, we will release new content in-game or goodies, and all backers might get additional rewards for themselves!
That's not all, however! We have more goodies in store if you can get World of Furries to be the talk of the fandom during the whole month of March!
From left to right: backers, Discord members, Facebook likes/shares, Twitter likes/RTs, YouTube views/green thumbs
Every time we hit a goal, we check a box! When enough boxes are checked, a few small surprises await... The more goals we unlock, the more interesting they will get, too!
We'll consider a goal reached if any one of our posts reaches a required number!
We need one more box to unlock the first surprise!
These are rewards that you’ll get for yourself, individually, when you make a contribution. The provided numbers are not mandatory, and you can input your desired amount manually. You’ll then get the reward for the tier under your number.
You can only pledge once as per Kickstarter's new rules (January 2019) but you can change your amount afterwards. If you want several tiers, it could be arranged depending on tier limitations- just add a message with your pledge.
For all Discord rewards, please indicate your username (in this format: user#0000). Your rewards may take a few days to apply.
Send a private message to GalopaWXY on Discord if you need any help.
Artistic rewards will start being made and sent to you starting next year, 2020, at latest.
There are four of us working on World of Furries!
The author of everything in this page. I’m the team’s writer in English and French. I’m 31 and been in the furry fandom for years!
Role: finding ideas, communicating about the project, writing texts for the game, daydreaming
Our developer, he’s 30 and been wanting to code a character management game for a while!
Role: web development, implementation of web design, server setup and any technical stuff
Our artist, she’s 25 and came to France from Switzerland. She is a well-known artist in the furry community and active on various online galleries!
Role: illustrations for everything in WOF, webdesign, furry expert
Our project leader, he’s 36 and has a quite a few years’ experience with team management. He's also in a relationship with Camille!
Role: coordinating everyone working on projects, paperwork, projects feasibility and more boring things unfortunately
Camille, Jérémy and Jérôme are together in a company called Itchy (named after the cat- it’s not actually an itching company)! We became friends from working on short game projects, then formed an actual company for legal purposes with these projects. Trust and friendship are at the heart of our partnership, and it even survived the creation of Itchy four years ago.
Itchy is a company of four individuals we created in France in February 2015. The fourth person is Camille’s father, who helps us and offers much-needed advice on running a company. All associates have equal roles and importance within the company.
Besides World of Furries, we coded and published several Internet websites for commercial clients. As of January this year, we decided to concentrate solely on editing online games. For four years, we’ve been developing a game engine (named Tog in loving memory of its creator) which will allow us to create browser-based games without having to start from scratch every time. It needs more coding to be able to handle most game types, such as character management - like World of Furries - and that’s what our developer will do full-time.
Out of the sum total of pledges for World of Furries, part of it will be used to pay the various taxes inherent to crowdfunding: mainly Kickstarter’s fees (5%), as well as the currency conversion fee from dollars to euros (2,5%), and an online tool that requires 5% as well and will allow our backers to keep pledging past the end if they so wish! Our country’s tax offices will also take company taxes such as IS and VAT (we’ll try to negotiate those with them when the time comes), which should leave us with more than half of the money we gathered for the project.
The bigger part of this money will be largely used to pay our developer and artist for their hard work, enabling them to focus 100% on the project for a number of months (depending of the campaign's success).
The rest of pledges money will go to paying for the servers, domain names, and the various side expenses of managing a project this size.
We plan to start coding the engine’s needed modules right after the end of the Kickstarter campaign. Text redacting is already underway (and there’s a lot of it, what with the game having a roleplay tendency!)
We should have an alpha version (which is basically a first draft) around this autumn 2019,
Then a beta version (in working order but glitchy) around Christmas 2019;
Then the final official version release at the beginning of the following year, in spring 2020.
Meanwhile, you will of course get lots of updates and game images, and some of you will even be able to test the closed beta version early on.
At all times, we will be present on the Discord server to answer any questions and take care of the Kickstarter rewards!
Risks and challenges
Congratulations if you scrolled this far! Challenges we face are detailed in the Finances section of the project.
Thanks a LOT for reading this Kickstarter! If you want to see this game go live next year, please consider sharing us on social networks and to your furry friends! It means a lot to us, it's literally as important as contributing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
