Hi @Amar. Thanks for pledging and for your thoughts. Please note that we've been in business since June 2014 - well before the campaign that you've just mentioned. We'd also like to point out a few additional things to ease your concerns:
1. Our script is closely based on the "our story" section of our website, which has been live since May 2015 (and we’ve been selling our debut collection since June 2014 on other platforms).
2. There are design similarities between our brands and we could say the same for several others (Mismo, Sandqvist, Everlane, Mulberry, Burberry). I’d be surprised if we didn't draw inspiration from the same sources (minimalist leather bags, not a ton of variation there, the difference lies in the materials, workmanship and production process). Their products are lovely, and we're happy with the comparison but we have been trading since June 2014 so I’d put the similarities down to the derivative nature of fashion. While I’d love to be able to travel forward in time to check out design trends, it just isn’t possible at the moment!
3. We don't rely on mass production from China, each piece is made by hand, to order.
4. We place a huge focus on ethical production and worked for over a year to set up processes that benefit the people making our pieces.
5. Their pieces are not trackable as far as I know.
@Amar, this is the first video we have made and while we did a lot of research and watched several Kickstarter videos before shooting ours (there are 100s of videos on minimalist wallets and bags), we worked with a professional to produce it. I assure you that they (and we) take plagiarism seriously. This industry is big enough for all of us and competition only makes us better. Thank you for dropping by.
