One Image Chosen!
I’ve chosen “Haley House, Smuttynose Island” for the pledge tier of “$75 or more.”
Smuttynose is one of the rugged islands that make up the nine Isles of Shoals. It gets its name from early fishermen, upon seeing the island at sea level and noticing how the profuse seaweed at one end looked like the "smutty nose" of some vast sea animal. (from Wikipedia). The Haley house was once believed to be the oldest house in Maine. Built by Samuel Haley some time in the eighteenth century, it was then passed down to his son, Captain Samuel Haley Jr., (who died in 1839 at a ripe old age and is buried on the island).
The view is from the back side of the building, and these trees have since disappeared into a storm, as things will do out here.
This is one of my personal favorites, captured on film and printed in my darkroom, this image will be scanned and then digitally printed, signed and dated for this campaign. “Haley House, Smuttynose Island” is one of the images that was collected by the North Carolina Museum of Art for their permanent collection.
The other pledge-tier images will be chosen and announced in the days to come.
Thanks for taking a look, and a special thank you to all who donated to my album!
