I wrote the screenplay for Arrange to Settle as part of my thesis for my MFA from American University. I am trying to raise a total of $100,000 to produce this feature. The minimum amount for this kickstarter campaign is $2,554.10, and this will pay for liability insurance for the film. I will have other fundraisers and am in talks with some investors to raise the rest of the money. The money raised for the film will be used for equipment rental, catering on set, paying the cast and crew, props, and costumes. The goal date is set for 45 days, because that's when we start filming. The first shoot day is scheduled for May 7, 2011. Yikes!
As an avid foodie, I am excited to announce that the film will feature two cameo appearances by Mike Isabella from Top Chef Season 6 and All-Stars and Chef Teddy Folkman who was on Food Network's Throwdown with Bobby Flay and was a contestant on The Next Food Network Star.
I am a DC native of Indian origin, so I focus the movie on what I know best. Most films about DC are political in nature, and I wanted to focus on the social aspects of DC. The characters play kickball and hang out at art galleries, restaurants, and shops in and around DC.
Led by a seasoned, all-female production team, the film's vision has become reality largely due to the support of many community businesses and organizations including The Arlington County Fair, WAKA kickball, Granville Moore's Gastropub, Graffiato, Merzi, Café De Paris, Saxena Dental, Mighty Pint, ARTiculate Gallery, and Lerner Enterprises Dulles Town Center. These businesses and organizations are supporting the production by providing shoot locations, props, costumes, and more. The film is a truly grassroots effort driven by local artists, businesses, and organizations and their passion for the arts in Washington, D.C.
Local fashion designers are dressing the cast for the film and local musicians are providing songs for the film and the film's soundtrack. Through cross promotion, we hope to make this film a success.
