Frequently Asked Questions
Some, at least. The stretch goals ensure that money is available to cover concept art, sculpting, and casting. I’m working with an artist in Canada, a sculptor in the UK, a caster on the East Coast, and I pack and ship from my home in California. Right now, the sculptor is starting the first four bonus figures. These are the ones with an estimated delivery date of December 2013. Without the additional stretch-goal funding, the future of the other seven will depend on how well Iron Mask Miniatures does after the Kickstarter campaign.Last updated:
Unlike the two proof-of-concept figures, the stretch-goal bonus personalities will not be limited editions. They will be available after the Kickstarter campaign, initially through the Iron Mask Miniatures blog.Last updated:
The Kickstarter campaign (including planned stretch goals) will complete the basic Three Musketeers theme. The range will then be expanded to include:
- Dwarf duelists in civilian dress.
- Mounted versions of the Dwarf Musketeers and duelists.
- At least two new dwarf personalities (you’ll love the ones
I have planned -- very unique yet oh so right!)
I hope to finish off the range with figures suitable for pike-and-shot fantasy wargaming units but also useful for RPGs, dungeon crawls, and skirmish games as guards, escorts, NPCs, and such. These will include:
- Dwarf Musketeer core troops standing and marching, plus
command figures. These figures will have options for musket,
halberd, or pike
- A musket firing line of Dwarf Musketeers in action poses.
- Mounted versions of the core troops.
After that, it’s on to the next secret project!Last updated:
I have precasts in hand. Within the next few days, I will make them available as individual add-ons.Last updated:
Sorry -- groups of four only. The number of components and the possible combinations of bodies, heads, and hands make individual sales impractical. For now, at least, it is simply too convenient to provide them grouped in fours (by hat type, mainly) along with a generous number of hands. The hands, incidently, arrive from the caster as individual pieces. Imagine 30+ hands multiplied by the number of times we run the mold. Sorting them -- especially the rapiers -- is labor-intensive, to say the least.Last updated:
Your original pledge gets you some combination of Dwarf Musketeers and Cardinal's Guard Ogres plus all four bonus figures -- your postage for this delivery is included in your pledge. If you wish to add on additional dwarves and ogres as specified in the Add-Ons section, no additional postage will be required.
The stretch-goal special characters will be available in three groups. Whether you get them as bonuses or purchase them as add-ons, note the estimated delivery date for each figure. If you want to purchase any of the characters as Add-Ons, they are $7.25 each ($14 for Jussac the Ogre Captain). A few of you have also asked about purchasing a single Cardinal’s Guard Ogre as an add-on -- you can do so by adding $14.75 to your pledge.
When the funding period ends, I will use the Kickstarter tools to request details on your pledge (if you increased your pledge, for example, which add-ons you wanted to purchase), your address, and your delivery preferences. The delivery dates for all the figures described in the Kickstarter page are as follows:
September 2013: all of the Dwarf Musketeers and Cardinal’s Guard Ogres.
December 2013: the limited-edition Dwarf in the Iron Mask, the Dwarf King, the Dwarf Cardinal, and the vaguely rat-like M Roquefort. These are now free bonus figures for most backers.
February 2014: the half-elven Milady de l’Elfe, the Ogre Captain Jussac, and the set of special hands for the Dwarf Musketeers.
Summer 2014: the halfling duellist Dart Onion, his halfling servant Planchet, the Dwarf Queen, and the halfling seamstress Constance.
In practical terms, your pledge includes one shipping date. For the bonus figures or special characters, I can delay shipping until they are ready and send everything in one package with no additional postage. However, if you want me to ship your Dwarf Musketeers and Cardinal’s Guard Ogres immediately and send your bonus figures or special-character add-ons later, I will request actual postage costs for the later shipment via PayPal after your figures are packaged and weighed.
If we manage to reach the $11,000 mark, which beyond my expectations suddenly seems possible, I would be happy to apply some sort of adjustment for anyone who has already added on to purchase Milady. I can apply it toward any additional postage costs, issue a refund through PayPal, or send additional figures. Of course, you also have the option of reducing your pledge before the funding period ends shortly after midnight EDT on 5 August.
Regarding the rule set: Grands Chapeaux is a short, quick-play beer-and-pretzels system written for pickup games and conventions. I will be hosting two games of Grands Chapeaux at the Pacificon Game Expo in Santa Clara, California, on the evening of August 30 and the morning of September 1, as the final playtest of the rules. After any required editing, they will be e-mailed to you in PDF format in September.Last updated:
