About this project
TECHNOLUST is a Virtual Reality Adventure set in a near-future Cyberpunk world.
The world and style of TECHNOLUST are inspired by 1980's and 90's Cyberpunk fiction like Blade Runner, Neuromancer and Robocop.
Virtual Reality technology such as the Oculus Rift allow a player to deeply explore a fully realized, living, breathing world and truly be present in the game, rather than just controlling an avatar.
Join the resistance and help bring down the oppressive corporations... or just hang out at home and watch a movie with your artificial intelligence. Go to the arcade and experience new worlds or hack into secure networks and fight to set the truth free. As in the real world, the choice is yours.
TECHNOLUST is being developed in the Unity game engine and will be released on Windows, Mac OS and Linux.
In the early part of the 21st century, the corporations took control...
They bought our politicians. They took our intellectual property. They sold our world. Some have started to resist. The hackers, the pirates and the phreaks. This is their world now. The world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. Join the resistance and fight to set the truth free.
The revolution will be televised!
Three major events have shaped this near-future world into the twisted Cyberpunk dystopia it has become.
First was the advent of cheap 3D printing "replicator" technology, allowing anyone to create any product they desired from raw materials.
Second was the rise of fully immersive Virtual Reality, achieved via Neural Implants allowing users to both upgrade their minds with software and to "Jack-in" to a completely virtual world.
And lastly, corporate control of the above technologies as well as most other facets of media, politics and everyday life.
Gameplay in TECHNOLUST is based primarily around story driven exploration. Virtual Reality affords great opportunity for immersive adventure, allowing the player to feel as if they are actually part of the game world. Our goal is to make everything interactive and enjoyable. Easter eggs and references pepper the world to keep the player interested. Clues are discovered and mysteries solved, guiding the player through the rich world and story. There is also a lot of emergent gameplay as a result of the environment design and interactivity. Collect movies and games to play at home, go to the arcade and experience whole other virtual worlds within the virtual world. TECHNOLUST is more than a game; it's a living breathing place.
Influenced by science fiction technology like the Star Trek's Holodeck and Total Recall's virtual vacations, TECHNOLUST is a story driven virtual world more than a traditional "game". Emphasis has been placed on environmental immersion, exploration, mystery, intrigue and awe.

Story Driven Puzzle and Mystery gameplay
An early prototype of TECHNOLUST is available for download here:
TECHNOLUST - Windows 64 bit
TECHNOLUST - Linux (Untested)
This is a very early prototype that includes the first few areas of the world. Gameplay is not necessarily indicative of the final product. This demo is simply to give people a feel for the world to let them know what to expect.
It is currently only playable with the Oculus Rift Development Kit, but a non-VR version may be made available in the future, as well as support for other VR head mounted displays.
Development continues as we speak. Become a backer and help make the world of TECHNOLUST a reality.
Kickstarter affords an amazing opportunity to both us as indie developers and you as backers.
Without you we would not be able to complete this exciting project. With the limited amount of developer kits available currently, the market for pre-sales for funding is limited.
But more importantly, it gives you the opportunity to be a part of history! The Virtual Reality revolution is coming. You can put your mark on one of the first fully realized virtual worlds.
We will be thrilled to meet our initial funding goal. Doing so will allow us to achieve our core vision for TECHNOLUST, but should we be fortunate enough to exceed our target, every extra bit will go into expanding the experience even further. We have tons of great ideas that we would love to implement and expand the world of TECHNOLUST, which we'll reveal as the campaign continues.
Our first stretch goal will allow us to add new audio features, like true 3D binaural sound and an original score/soundtrack. From there, things will get interesting ;)
Of course, along with these new features and content, the overall quality of all aspects of TECHNOLUST will be improved with each additional dollar. Not a single bit will go to waste.
Here is a taste of what people are saying about the pre-alpha demo of TECHNOLUST. More press will be added as it arrives.
"This was awesome!!! One of the best I've played... "
-cybereality (Oculus VR Community manager)
"Dude!... That was freaking awesome. I like it, I like it a lot. Engrossing and absorbs you right from the start."
"Compelling and engaging experience, can't wait for more!"
-Cymatic Bruce (VR Evangelist and community organizer)
"Hands down, THE best looking Oculus Rift demo available at the moment. It's a mixture of exploration, visual showcase and a hidden item game and it's so, so well done. The modelling is excellent (save perhaps the toilet) the dust motes in the air, the easter eggs, the controllable radio, it's all fantastic."

Risks and challenges
Our main challenge is of course the reason we are on Kickstarter in the first place, funding.
With a very limited current market for virtual reality experiences, it is difficult to get the funding we need to complete Technolust. We need to rely on other developers and hardcore enthusiasts at this point.
On the other hand, the release could be delayed slightly if we surpass our goal by a large amount. With more funding we will be able to add more features and content, which may take additional time. We will put every penny back into the game and do our best to meet our deadline. Though, regardless of funding, a playable beta version will be released to backers at the right reward levels so that they can experience Technolust in HD with their Rift DK2's scheduled arrival in July.
All of the new features from DK2 (including positional tracking) will be added to the game for final release which may also add to the development time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
