To Sam Jang/Cregle - it is astonishing that you had the nerve to say on January 17: "I'd like you to read iPen 2 Update #5 Response to the infamous reviews of iPen 1, and give us your feedback so we can do better." What about all the feedback we have been giving you over the past 18 months that you simply ignored? As for Kickstarter's admonition by the Post-comment button to "Be respectful and considerate," where was Cregle's consideration of its backers over all this time?
Back # 2 Ha! You gotta be kidding.. you should send us all #2 FREE and we will think about backing #3.
The main issue with the new version is the same as before. One still need to use a receiver attached to the iPad/screen in order for the iPen to work. You need to come with a solution that can work without a receiver attach to the device. Your new product won't be compatible with any iOS device in the near future then Apple changes again its connector ports and or size of their devices. Find a way to connect wirelessly and the iPen may have a better use.
iPen 1 was absolutely horrible. Excited when I opened the package and eager to show off to co-workers who always look at my high tech gadget purchases. To everyone and my disappointment, the response of the iPen was anything but responsive. Worse project I ever backed at Kickstarter. If iPen 2 is so good they should give us a 50% discount to compensate us for the piece of junk they sent us in the first place. The iPen 1 review as bang on. It was a fair and honest review without extra hype or critical comments.
I'm sorry for those iPen 1 backers with bad experience :-(
I'd like you to read iPen 2 Update #5 Response to the infamous reviews of iPen 1, and give us your feedback so we can do better.
Agreed, I don't trust them either, but the new iPen 2 looks really good, but then again, so did the first iPen and we all know how shit it ended up being. I'm an early bird backer of iPen 2, but I might pull out of it before the deadline, unless they gain my trust back.
To anyone who comes here to read up on the iPen who is thinking of backing the iPen 2:
I will most certainly not be backing anything from Cregle. I simply don't trust them or believe them.
We release our second project iPen 2. Please send us your feedback :-)
Anyone got a mail also ? The iPen 2 is coming ! Lol
Al is quiet.....
Quote from that review "At the end of the day, the $89 iPen doesn't live up to its promises, and is much more of a hassle than its worth. Perhaps with a better selection of compatible apps, the iPen could be a good match for some people, but for now, it's a definite skip — especially considering it will only work on your iPad."
The verge reviewed a bunch of styli and this was rated the worst out of all of them http://tiny.cc/axe1iw. Glad I only threw away 50 bucks.
I have backed some projects that failed... This one is pretty high on the list of pure crap! Natalie Dawn took $100K and ran with it, not doing anything or communicating = Sucks and Vortex took money for a deck of playing cards and a year later nothing. Estylo (sp) sold a stylus that was supposed to be revolutionary, but was only basically a chop stick with a dab of foam on the tip. About ready to stop using Kickstarter.
ITS ALMOST AUGUST AND STILL NO NOTESPLUS COMPATIBILITY -.- WTF FALSE ADVERTISING MUCH?????
Obviously Cregle is getting a ton of flack for this failed product, but this is by far the most disappointing KickStarter project I've backed. Luckily I was able to recoup most of the money I spent by selling it on eBay. I'm hoping the person that just purchased it on eBay doesn't give me a bad rating due to the bad performance of the product.
I have had mine since the Kickstarter shipment first hit. About 200-250 pages hand written in Ghostwritter with no problems. Yes I have to recalibrate everytime, but that stands to reason since one removes the sensor between sessons.
Can you believe they are trying to sell it on http://cregle.com. Better off paying them a $1 and getting poked in the eye.
Horrifically bad product. Why go to all the trouble of developing and manufacturing a piece of crap? Frankly, it would have been better to have received nothing than this PoS (if you're going to cheat people, at least be competent about it)
Just saw awful ratings online, and I 100% agree... any hope this will ever be a real product or have you scrapped it as a bad idea?
Hi Jon, Sorry to hear that. We already mentioned on our project that all backers have to pay for any import TAX/VAT. If you have further questions, please email us at email@example.com
Cregle, I contacted you directly but no response so am trying again here. You charged me a reasonable international shipping rate which I paid, but on receipt of the ipen I also received a bill for an additional £15.49 from your shipper; FedEx. To make matters worse, they invoiced my employer, the shipping address, not my billing address, which is NOT COOL! So while attempting to dispute this figure with you I have the embarassment of reminders landing on my desk from admin. Please respond directly.
Tossed in a drawer, a $50 bad memory.
Noteshelf just released its Version 6.0 yesterday. It's HD version and support iPen.
Goh Kevin ,
Cool, I found a new app who supports Ipen: Inotebox HD.
@Manfred: keep in mind that you have to keep the pen in the same orientation while writing as you used for calibrating. It isn't very good but it should work though! Works on both my iPad2 and iPhone 3GS...
Nice try, but it won't work at all on my new iPad, the iPad 2 or even the iPhone 4 or 4S. The only reaction from the pen is the first calibration point in ibiPaint - then the stylus is dead ...
Any hints, what do do in this case?
And for the people who don't understand Dutch in short: I don't think it's that bad but the problems could be foreseen. I want to get rid of it because it's a disappointment for a student that doesn't sh*# money ;)
@Kevin np ,
Nayef, sorry about that. we've sent you RMA for replacement.
Received the iPen and it's not working fine. Cregle didn't send me a replacement not refund, even though I sent a video for them to show how their product is not working well with me.
Seller charged me additional 15$ for "fast" shipping via FedEx. Result: I received the iPen a month later than promised, seller reported 89$ price instead of 50$ I paid, and didn't pay FedEx for his additional services. As a result I should pay tax fees (~18 euro, because reported price is higher than 50$. If it would be exactly 50$ it would be free of charge) + 10 euros for FedEx services. 50$+15$+15$+23$+13$ = 116$ instead of 65$. I'm VERY angry!
DO NOT BUY an iPen from Cregle!!!! You will have buyers' remorse and could buy several other styluses for the price of the iPen. Feel completely ripped off.
@Kevin , bent u van België ?
I have been fooling around with my iPen since I received it, and I would agree that it is a pretty disappointing product. The design of the pen, the feel in your hand, and the experience of using it with goodnotes and ibisPaint are pretty poor. Better results sketching in SketchBook pro with a regular ct stylus. I hope the Lunatik stylus is better than this thing. I suppose this is a risk of betting on new technology, I just hope projects like this don't give Kickstarter a black eye. This is the first product I've received of 5 that I have backed.
I can't even get my ipen sold on ebay... I noticed btw that I am the only one who offers an ipen on ebay? Is it just me then who isn't really satisfied or is it because everyone only sells local so i can't see the auction?
. To promise a new product that already exists and market it to get good money
. To not respond well anymore to customer issues once money received
3 Months later, about 15 emails later, having provided all information asked for, still waiting for my reimbursement after I cancelled my order based on the offer to step out ....
Waiting for your response guys!!!
will this work on my ipad 3?
I'm still waiting for my iPen. I wrote several times to firstname.lastname@example.org, without any reply.
The receiver fits the fintie swivel case for my iPad 3rd generation.
Dear backers: If you have any questions, please contact us at email@example.com As we mentioned in the update, it's difficult to track each of your requests from this message board. We believe most of your issues have been resolved except some rare cases. For example, we are still waiting for the int'l shipping fee from few backers. Please check your email. And we cannot deliver your iPen because you only made a $15 pledge.
We did mess up some of our backers' pledges. We do apologize for the mistakes.
Anybody home ?
I am still having issues with my ipen, there must be an issue with the pen itself, I would like to mail it back for a replacement.
No Greg , everybody's vanished ,
Hello, is there anyone out there.
