61,290 backers pledged $2,933,252 to help bring this project to life.

Off to a great start!

WOW!!! You guys are amazing!  The fans are really stepping up here with donations and spreading the word. I haven't been more excited to make a game in over a decade. It is a dream to focus all my attention on making a wonderful experience without distraction from outside forces. We will not let you down!

Also for our Russian fans, our buddy Yegor at fallout-archives put together instructions for how to pledge and navigate Kickstarter. If our funding stays at this rate we will be able to localize in Russian.  Thanks a ton, Yegor!

@ Steven: Not to worry. Wasteland had one of the more entertaining combat systems for a turn based game and also one of the more comprehensive skill based/level systems of *any* crpg I've played (and i've played a ton dating back to the 80's) and basically introduced the idea of having multiple ways to accomplish a goal based on a skill set your party has.

And yes, you could have a good old fashioned bar brawl too ;)

Please not anything like frozen synapse. It is just close enough to real turn based gaming to get me interested, then it killed it with its crazy locked into a path method of game play.

Russian subtitles would be great) Keep it up, comrades!

Lets hope that this catches on to show people working in the buisness, that you dont have to whore yourself out to electronic arts or activision to get a game made, made the way you and your players want it to be and not what some focus group goon thinks would sell

    5. Barry Smith on March 17, 2012

If I might make a suggestion vis-a-vis the turn based combat: Frozen Synapse has a great pause-time based, synchronous turn-based flow that might suit a Wasteland game.

Which is to say, that the game is still turn based, but both sides move at the same time.

However, I appreciate that you might wish to keep the game "closer to home" for the fans, and that such a system might not fit into the current "year-and-a-half" schedule.

@ Raith; I agree man. love the fallout / elderscrolls modding community. Would be awesome to be able to mod wasteland2 and share the mods in the same fashion. I'm one of those people that don't want to stop playing a game I love just because I beat the main story.

I haven't been more excited about a game coming out in a very long time! Wasteland brings up many fond C64 gaming memories. I'm so glad my friend told me about this yesterday.

@Michael Friis, @DarkDust: I agree with you DarkDust, it's maybe even bigger phenomenon in France...
It is even hard sometimes to find content in original version, for instance VOD is a pain in the ass, when you rent a movie on the XBOX VOD service you don't even have the choice, it's french dubbed version, it really annoys me. And don't get me started about how silly the translations can be...

We did it! Unfortunately I didn't play Wasteland, but I am a HUGE Fallout 1, 2 fan. Bethesda graved Fallout 3 and my last hope to see this game what it should be. And I just could not to take part in this project when I found out about it. I'm just a poor student, so my pledge is only $ 15. Well, I think that a few years later I will be able to donate a large sum for you next progect =). Yeah, next project! I believe in the success of Wateland 2 and I believe that projects like that will change game development industry, at least it will change some.
P.S. Waiting for Planescape 2, guys.

Hope we can push it to astronomical levels so this game would be bigger and better than anything similar.

I hope you guys in InXILE consider delaying the release date more if the contributions is more so you can take advantage of the extra funding to make the game better. Miyamoto once said about the continuous delays of Nintendo games that a good game is always good, and a bad game is always bad, so more time should be spent making sure it is good.

    18. Kjell Iwarson on March 15, 2012

      Congrats on reaching the goal!

I just entered my pledge and I was happy to do so! Unfortunately I never got a chance to play the original Wasteland but I am a huge Fallout fan. Well, I don't entirely care for what Bethesda has done with it but, it's pretty good. If you guys could give us a way to get a copy of the original that would be awesome. Or is it available somewhere that I just haven't seen?

    21. Roman Popov on March 15, 2012

It would be really great if someone could make a large graphic for wasteland 2. This way we could all temporarily change our facebook timelines cover-page graphics to help spread this viral-like.

While I had a bunch of game installed on the old Tandy 1000, Wasteland was one of the most memorable games I've have ever played. I'm looking forward to Wasteland 2!

Now if we can only convince someone to make another Starcontrol my retro game fix will be satisfied for another decade.

Please make sure you let people know what money us needed to make the game in all it's brilliant glory... you need $1.6 million to do the best job possible - is that correct? Or if you get even more tha $ 1.6m does that mean the world will be even larger... or better graphics/animation etc?

Please make it known in aBIG UPDATE (or even at top of front page) the ultimate goal so people don't slow down in funding this. Godd luck! I contributed too :)

I havent been this excited about a new game in ages! I just cant wait to see what you guys accomplish without having to pander to corporate stooges. Maybe this will serve as a wake up call to the big game distributors. Power to the gamers! And good job getting this together we are all pulling for you!

Mr. Fargo, you are one of my reasons to become an illustrator and a goddamned geek. And here I am unemployed and yet donating you 15 bloody dolars, I told me mom that it is for a good cause, (Since I am unemployed artist my mom is backing me up for a while now) and it really is, no matter what people say what you do is an artform. A really complicated and hard to build one indeed!

Now, you already have 1 million dolars, and I am hoping that you will double it! Make sure you make a kick-ass of a game and make my mom proud!

To this day I still talk about my Wasteland games with friends, and the time I got stuck on the stage and couldn't figure out how to get off.

Can't wait to start seeing the results. Way to go!!!

Wasteland was one of the games that kick started my gaming, and by extension, computer obsessions. Thanks to games like Wasteland, I learned how to program on my own, since I wanted to be able to create what they did, and have since made my living on computers. I'm so incredibly excited to see this happening! Now how about a real Bard's Tale or Pools of Radiance sequel? :)

You are facing 99 Berserkers, 99 Berserkers, 99 Berserkers, and 99 Berserkers...

Russian localization is nice for a change (allthough they all sucked during all past years, due to horrible voice acting, so do some research before you hire VO in Russian). ^_^

    43. Leo on March 15, 2012

Have to agree with Jesse... An updated port of the original would be a freaking awesome addition to the game, given how long it's been since its heyday... Or maybe even at the end of funding, to whet the appetite of the backers with a bit of nostalgia. Can't wait for an amazing game guys!
