You’ve got to be freaking kidding me!! We just funded in six hours!?!?!

Our heads are still spinning at the incredible response we have had from today's support of our Kickstarter campaign. We had plans to roll out our stretch goals and to write our Kickstarter updates but never in our wildest dreams did we think we would fund this quickly!!! We are joyfully scrambling right now to get a longer update and some stretch goals in front of you as soon as we can. We should have more to say later today.

You are all unbelievably awesome and we could not be happier about receiving your trust in us. For many years we have wanted to get back to making this style of RPG but it appeared that the market was going everywhere but that direction. Almost every article and new game was focused on being an MMO, multi-player or micro-transition based. This wasn’t our style and we couldn’t generate interest in the classical narrative type of RPG that we all grew up making and playing. Thank you for backing our vision once again and we will not let you down. We will continue to communicate and and make sure we solicit input such that the game is hitting all the right notes.

Our goal is to make great RPGs for you all for the rest of our careers.

Thank you,

Brian Fargo and the team at inXile

Really, when I saw the words "Planescape: Torment" I just shouted: shut up and take my money! For me, it was, by far, THE best computer RPG of all times! Just after I've played it, my thoughts were preciselly "this was great, but no one is ever going to do something like this, just because it's probably not that marketable". This is just to show how many orphans of that (or any) great narrative are out there. I sincerely hope you can deliver a game as great as Planescape was (and the more you promise, the more you have to live by that promise, hehehe). Live long and prosper!

This is a good time to be a gamer: Dreamfall, Elite, and a spiritual sequel to Planescape Torment all at once! And they're all on Kickstarter!

Congratulations on the super-swift funding. I managed to get Planescape on Amazon last year and I know it's not just nostalgia, that game was really something special. You and the Obsidian guys have made just about every cRPG I've ever loved, so I have a great deal of faith in you to make sure Tides is every bit as special as it deserves to be.

Thanks for taking the chance, and best of luck with the development.

Quick question, at the $125 digital collector's level, will we receive all the digital collector stuff from the $110 level?

      Thanks!

I don't want to sound like a giant nerd or anything but reading that nearly brought a tear to my eye.
2014 will be glorious and it's all thanks to the thousands of people who like the same things as me ㅋㅋㅋ Kickstarter makes my heart grow!

Funny thing, I don't really care about the game. Torment was fun, but not one of my favorites. What I care about is keeping inXile going and getting more music by Mark Morgan. That being said, I look forward to being very pleased I got in on the ground floor.

I hope the combat is also true to the source material. No more pseudo-RTS "real-time with pause" combat. Half the experience of the tabletop RPG is the in-depth strategy of combat. The last game to fully realize this was Temple of Elemental Evil.

people want old school, complex RPGs with well writen story, dialogs and world lore. we believe in you inXile so please dont disappoint us and show the world that RPG is not dumbed genre but something more. Wasteland 2, Project Eternity and Torment are brightest prospects and im proud to back them all (im sad that i wasnt into Kickstarter when the first one was funded but today i pledged 45$ for both inXile projects)

When I saw this page go live today I immediately canceled my paid off Bioshock Infinite preorder. I felt they were going in a bad direction with the limited preorder bonuses and DLC/Seasonal. All that raises red flags for me, especially after seeing how Seasonal passes don't even include all DLC now with games like Saints Row 3 and Borderlands 2 releasing DLC not included in these passes at the same time as DLC included in the pass.

I instead took that $60 and an additional $35 and pledged it all here, is it the same amount as Bioshock + Seasonal pass? Roughly yes, but inXile presented in a much better fashion that makes me feel like it's worth it and that I'll get more bang for my buck with their product if I spend the same amount on both.

DLC and most likely Publisher BS cost Bioshock Infinite a sale that went straight to funding this game. I just want people and companies to know that treating your fans/investors/customers like real people instead of potential monetization targets to be exploited makes a very big difference to them.

And just like with Wasteland 2, I don't plan to participate in the forums or development because I want as little spoilers as possible before this comes out. I'm trusting you guys to make a fantastic experience and I've pledged more money to this project than I did to Wasteland 2. The bits of info I've read, the video of WL2 running, and the fun I've had after playing The Bards Tale on my Android device all influenced this increase in pledge money from me towards Torment.

Keep up the damn fine work, team.

Excellent news, I'am still reading the huge first post. But It didn't take me ten minutes to get convinced.
InXile seems to know what PC gamers are really looking forward to. Great games from the old days where we still talk about often. But with modern technology. Kickstarter Kings!

You know, EA and Ubi is a no-go for me. Even the new Ultra-High-Def HD Consoles aren't even a Cent worth after seeing there's gone be an ONLINE-Check and whatever. After seeing you guys doing Wasteland 2 - I thought, YES - Old School, and I thought if we give you our support, we will show the big publishers that there are "Gamers" out there who LIKE ISO Games with rich STORY, where you need to THINK. Thats where you truly "play". Keep up with those ideas, and you won't have to worry about publisher, you will get us! So far you're incredible. Your Updates, perfect. Keep it up.

I'm a bit short buckwise but a couple of roguish Ulysses S. Grant's should be worth it. To battle, now.

Man this is the best news I've had in the past year and I got married!

So very excited and it's going to be a very long wait. Torment is one of my all time favourite games and I can't wait to see what you guys will do with the sequel.

I missed the Wasteland 2 campaign, and when I saw this AND the chance to get Torment and Wasteland 2 together? SOLD! :-)

Are you joking? I feel like I owe you money for the games you already created that shaped my childhood and adolescence. W1, F1 & 2, PT, BG.

Being passionate about your games is what made them great. That's what we need. Not corporate greed that destroys ideas. "By gamers, for gamers" was the Interplay motto when you were there. It wasn't the same after you left.

In celebration, you shall decide that the next inXile KS project is the Bard's Tale 3. What? You said yourselves you wanted to keep the team, didn't you? Just kidding (well, maybe not that much =] )
      .
Regarding this project is it possible to have the printed novellas as add-on? Or a physical tier between $110 and $250 offering them? I think this could make a lot of people at $95/$110 to increase their pledge

MMO, multi-player or micro-transition is where big publishers WANT the industry to go.

There is certainly room for those style of games, but that's not the whole story.

@Brett those are games where in game items and gameplay mechanics cost real money. They are usually free to play, but if you want to success you usually need to pay at least some money.

You know, a great stretch goal would be to get Michael T Wiess to come back and do some more voice overs for the new game. Probably even get him to re-record the classic "Updating my journal" line.

And hey, he won't be playing The Pretender at the same time this time 'round either where he was essentialy playing the same role twice and getting paid for it :).
