You’ve got to be freaking kidding me!! We just funded in six hours!?!?! 

Our heads are still spinning at the incredible response we have had from today's support of our Kickstarter campaign. We had plans to roll out our stretch goals and to write our Kickstarter updates but never in our wildest dreams did we think we would fund this quickly!!! We are joyfully scrambling right now to get a longer update and some stretch goals in front of you as soon as we can. We should have more to say later today.

You are all unbelievably awesome and we could not be happier about receiving your trust in us. For many years we have wanted to get back to making this style of RPG but it appeared that the market was going everywhere but that direction. Almost every article and new game was focused on being an MMO, multi-player or micro-transition based. This wasn’t our style and we couldn’t generate interest in the classical narrative type of RPG that we all grew up making and playing. Thank you for backing our vision once again and we will not let you down. We will continue to communicate and and make sure we solicit input such that the game is hitting all the right notes.

Our goal is to make great RPGs for you all for the rest of our careers.

      Atlast the people can say what they what, what kinds of games they want instead of publishers and marketing teams deciding what people want.

      There can be a place for both COD, Gears etc, all that AND great singleplayer focused RPGs, aimed towards a niche market (us!) that don't get dumbed down with each sequel. And I hope Project Eternity, Wasteland 2 and now Tides of Numenera shows them just that.
      There is a market for these kinds of games and we are, and have been for a long time now, starved for some real meaty RPGs. : D

      And to all those who ever said single-player is dead or dying: I love single-player games, and play most games just for the single player part, not the MP/Co-op part. I even prefer to solo in MMOs...

      I and many others have been waiting for this for years. The original is my favorite game of all time, and all I can say is thankyou. My grandfather was a big PC gamer, and introduced me to Planescape: Torment just before he passed away, and I'm supporting this with as large a pledge as I can financially manage in his memory.

      My only regret is that I didn't get it for $20... Don't get me wrong, it's worth more, and for those that like the "physicality" of games, there's a ton of fantastic deals there, but for me, it's about the game, first and foremost. When you see this price model, where people are able to purchase BRAND NEW GAMES for $20, games that we've been dreaming about for years, games that have every indication that they will be BETTER through self-funding and keeping the big game corporations out of it, demonstrates some pretty amazing examples for the future of our economy.

      You guys have the most golden opportunity ever. Nobody has more faith in you than your fans right now and if you deliver they will continue to help you make games. I know I will. You think 6 hours is fast? If your games are as good as they should be or better... try 6 minutes next time!

      market was going everywhere but that direction, Which is why you got the backing. The pitch and idea looks good and the wasteland 2 video looked solid so it looks like you can deliver. It also helps the PS T is still viewed as the best written game ever. Also just so you know screw this up and you will have every rpg fan gunning for you. The expectations are 10 times higher for this then Wasteland 2, good luck

      Speaking as someone who's first much-loved pc game was 'the bards tale', your rpg customer base has always been here, wanting a rebirth of the golden days of interplay as the market trucked along making rpg games that weren't what we wanted. So 'thank you!' for again making the style of games that have been neglected for far too long.

      I've been waiting for a follow-up to Ps:T since 1999. And while and endless stream of Baldur's Gates and Icewind Dales and Neverwinter Nights have come and gone, there's never been anything else that's had the depth, intelligence, and originality of Torment. And I know I'm not the only gamer out there who feels the same way.

      And now you're basically getting the gang back together to make a brand new Torment? How could this _not_ have been funded in the first six hours?!

      I actually left the Dreamfall kickstarter, not a fan of exclusive in-game content based on how much you spend. It is not in the spirit of Kickstarter. Nor are they Kicking it Forward. But it worked out well, I dropped my $50 dollar pledge there, added it to my pledge here. Now I get a really expensive cloth map. :)

      Personally I think MMO's have held up creativity, depth and have failed to really push the power on the modern PC to any significant level, so this is exciting news! 2014 is shaping up to see true PC games hit the market :).

      Now I think you can see that it was thousands of people's dream to play them. And probably much more who didn't even hear about your projects.

      We thank you for fulfilling our dreams -dreams we have long given up hope on.

      We did the easy part. Just paid... Now the hard part is on you. To fulfill our dreams...

      @Mindestens-- I used them for a compare and contrast. I have been to their website and there are many months with no official updates
      In raw numbers: Wasteland 2 has 26 official KS updates while dfa has 16. Many of those were prior to the project funding. (3/6/13 6:16 pm CST)
      My point was more to say thank you to Brian for keeping folks in the loop vs. run down df. I have backed 67 projects as of this minute (number subject to change). Most of the projects have delivered or at least kept folks updated. (via Kickstarter updates)

      I have many many projects that I backed which are way behind schedule. What separates the wheat from the chaff is communication. My comment was to thank Brian and his gang for keeping folks in the loop. I do not have time or energy to scour 67 websites. KS sends me an email when a project is updated. No hunting no pecking. Just check my email and poof update.

      For me communication outweighs timelines. I have been professorially in software development for over 25 years. I understand delays. Just communicate them to me.

      What a great time to be a PC gamer! Star Citizen, Project Eternity, Wasteland 2 and now Torment 2!!! I'm so glad these titles don't have to be designed with console limitations foremost in mind, and can be built the old school way - game play comes first, design choices are only limited by schedule and resources, and implementation of those designs is paramount. Platform-specific user experience and ports are secondary.

      Seriously, it really means a lot. I have grown so tired of playing games designed for the Xbox360/PS3/etc (where the devs didn't even bother redesigning the game's interface from a handheld control driven design) on my cutting edge PC. And I am so glad to see these Kickstarter titles get the funding they deserve, to be made the right way by the dev teams who care most about them. Enjoy watching the support grow inXile!!!

      Congrats on the funding! So looking forward to both this and Wasteland 2 from you guys. Been following along on any development ever since Fargo mentioned a Torment successor was a possibility, and guess what, it's a definite!

      I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but I have a suggestion for a Stretch Goal:

      Include a (digital download) copy of Planescape: Torment for backers at the $20+ level.

      It's such an exciting time to once again see games made "By Gamers, For Gamers".
      A lot of us grew up playing these games, and now we have the disposable income available to make sure that we can play them again, despite what the marketing 'geniuses' at the big publishers might think.

      @Bobby Allen: The game will be made in the Unity engine, and Unity does support Android development. However, they may not be able to get the game working on Android simply because systems that run Android are typically not nearly as powerful as laptops and desktops....

      But I dunno, if Ouya is powerful enough to run it, the Ouya crowd may be able to convince them to build the game in Android as well as the other platforms. Still, I have my doubts that Ouya is powerful enough, and I wouldn't want the game to be "dumbed down" so that it could work on Android.

      When I first joined Kickstarter to fund DFA and Wasteland 2, this project was the little dream I had in the back of my head the whole time I was trying to imagine the potential of crowdfunding. Thank you Brian, InXile and Kickstarter for making that dream a reality, I'll admit Planescape is one nostalgia heavy game so it's great this Torment is not a sequel, it actually makes more sense to the core of Torment. If it was the exact same style of game it absolutely would not be a true Torment game, so it should be a reflection of what evolution we've seen in RPG's since Planescape. Great art in any media doesn't just make you question the subject it presents you with, but yourself and your relationship with that subject. This is something that isn't understood by the gaming 'industry' because it is what it is, an industry. It's about producing large piles of money by selling product, not by attempting to create great works of art. Games as product seems to produce shallower games as budgets and profits grow. So there has never been room in the industry for games as art, because it's too subjective and doesn't guarantee multimillion sales worldwide.

      It seems crazy that this paradigm exists now, because this is the game we all want, a personal character, deep NPC's with interesting personalities and backstories, as well as the constant mystery that gives you the true joy of discovery and investigation. Hopefully we can keep tipping the scales like this. My new dream is a world where we can make games like this Game of the Year, a game where you can have a more meaningful experience in 30 minutes than 100 hours of Call of Duty.

      You guys gave me the best games of my wasted teenage years, I spent untold hours playing Torment, it was the first game that really really grabbed me and wouldn't let me go.
