We are taking the art of pour over coffee and automating the process. It is simply the easiest way to make the best coffee.
About this project
What is Invergo?
Invergo is the coffee machine reinvented. It automates the pour over coffee process resulting in a much better cup of coffee. Invergo allows you to either brew a cup or a carafe of coffee using any pour over method. It features precision water heater for unrivaled temperature consistency. It also makes cold brew coffee at the touch of a button, it doses small amounts of unheated water over a long period of time. Invergo is the most flexible and the easiest to use coffee machine.
The Story Behind Invergo
As a freshman in high school, I made the daily trek to Manhattan from the suburbs. Barely able to make the train, a cup of coffee was my only solace. One of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had was at a small cafe on 20th Street. I soon learned the science behind my cup of solace: it was pour-over coffee. This cup of Joe that was once just a wake-up call soon became a passion. As a coffee novice, I eagerly purchased as much coffee and equipment as I could on an endeavor to create the perfect cup. The exhausting morning rush simply does not allow time to craft the perfect pour-over cup. As a young entrepreneur, I embraced this problem, and sought out a solution. While still in college I began developing a machine that anyone can use to produce a quality cup of coffee. After over a year in development, I have designed, engineered and built a fully functional prototype and I am ready to bring it to production. I am finally proud to present Invergo, the perfect café-style pour-over coffee system.
Features and Technology
Autospout Water Delivery System
Ordinary coffee machines don't saturate all of the coffee grounds evenly; resulting in a bitter taste. The Autospout however ensures all coffee grounds are evenly saturated. Invergo produces a coffee that is evenly extracted, clear and bright.
Instant Water Heater with Precision Temperature Control
One of the most important factors when brewing coffee is temperature constancy. Most coffee machines use a heating element that is unregulated resulting in temperature fluctuation of up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Invergo is revolutionary; it uses an instant water heater that keeps the temperature within 1 degree of its setting.
Flexibility between Single Serving and a Carafe
Drip coffee machines are difficult to set up and clean. They require you to fill the water tank with each brew time you carafe. The coffee market also provides single-serve machines. Despite the convenience, these machines come with a high cost for unrefined acidic coffee. Invergo bridges the gap between single-serve and drip machine. It allows you to brew from 5 oz to 50 oz all, using the same compact machine.
Multiple Pour Over Apparatus
There are a variety of pour-over apparatuses from Chemexes to Hario V60s. All produce a slightly different cup of coffee and Invergo accommodates all of them by the use of a removable magnetic pour-over holder. Also the magnetic drip tray can be removed allowing for taller travel mugs.
Coldbrew Iced Coffee (Pro)
The cold brew function turns off the heating element and doses small amounts of water over long period time. The result: a cup of coffee that is sweet and perfect over ice.
Touch Screen Interface With Programable Bloom and Pulse (Pro)
For coffee enthusiasts who want complete control over the brewing process, Invergo implements the ability for the brewer to set how the water will pulsates. Invergo stores these settings so duplicating the perfect cup is easy. Plus, Invergo has a timer, so you can program your brewer to make your cup of coffee at a certain time each morning.

Product Development
Ideation: The idea for this project was born out of necessity. There are simply no good automatic coffee machines that can make a single-serving or a carafe. After looking to many possible solutions, it was clear an automated pour-over system is best.
Design: After developing a solution, we started sketching, building models and prototypes. This allowed us to further refine the details of the machine and ensure a beautiful design that can proudly be displayed on countertops.
Develop: This is the current step in the process. We a have a fully functional prototype and are translating it into a product that can be manufactured. This involves quite a bit of work but, fortunately, nearly all of the engineering and design have been accounted for.
Production: This is the next step in the process, it involves tooling, setting a supply chain for all parts and certification.
- January 2014 We will begin by creating the electronics systems with all the finalized production parts. We will make sure all the parts work in unison and that they function properly.
- March 2014 After all the internal systems are translated to a production worthy design we will begin creating all the plastic parts by rapid prototyping them. This will be done to ensure that all the parts fit within the casing correctly and that everything functions as it should. Once the pre production prototype is complete we will send off the final designs to be tooled.
- May 2014 Tooling is the next process, this step includes the creation of injection molds and other manufacturing components. Also during this time any sourced parts will be secured for our supply chain.
- July 2014 By this time we will have a fully functional production prototype. This prototype will then be sent off for certification for home use. During this time we will also create all the packaging and instruction. (Any problems during this process may lead to small design changes.)
- September 2014 Once certification is completed, we will conduct our final production verification and start mass production.
- December 2014 The final step is importing Invergo, and shipping it to your doorstep.
Internals and Past Prototypes
Risks and challenges
Almost all the final details of the engineering, design and internal components have been developed. The next stage is securing a supply chain, all the internal components and deciding on an overseas manufacture. Small hiccups in the supply chain and manufacturing are inevitable and could cause delays.
From the beginning of development, we at Invergo have been conscience of certification compliance and general safety. In accordance with these safety regulations we must submit our product to certification agency guareenting its compliance. Successful production depends rigorous testing and approval is contingent upon this certification. This contingency could result in small design tweaks that may delay production.
