A digital board game inspired by Capture the Flag
A digital board game inspired by Capture the Flag
A four-player board game where the objective is to attack the enemy flag while defending your own. Players will all start at the center of the board, each player’s flag will be placed in its respective corner. Player’s must make it to an enemy flag, and if the enemy isn’t present, the player can take the flag and deposit it in the center of the board to eliminate that enemy. When only one player remains, that player is the victor. An integrated card system allows players to mix up the flow of battle for better or for worse. An online leader board will give players the opportunity to see how they compare to their friends and rivals!
Since Invaded began as a board game, we felt it proper that we revamp the artwork of the original board game, and we will be releasing that some time after the release of the digital version.
Tim Harris, Lead Artist:
As a dedicated gamer from an early age I’ve always been fascinated by digital games. As an adult and former Army Sergeant, I spent my time after the military learning the ins and outs of game development with the hopes of bringing entertainment to the masses with new and innovative idea’s for online gaming. Any free time I have from working on games I spend playing them with our dedicated online community. I believe that the things I learned during my service will give me the ability to push through any and all obstacles to bring you guys something enjoyable to play!
Piotr Gębuś, Lead Programmer
Young programmer who has been in game development as freelancer for small projects. An AI enthusiast and tech junkie. I am also a big fan of strategy and board games alike. Invaded is my first commercial project that I have been working on since the beginning and because of that I can pour my love for video games into it.
Where the money goes:
40% of our funds will be going to pay our employees who include
A well versed and highly talented programmer
An Artist from a highly recognized art school
We have also allotted funds for a 2nd Artist, and a Sound Designer as well.
5% is allotted to our website designer since this project will spawn a Development Studio!
The other 45% goes to handle software licensing and server hosting for the first year of the game's life.
The last 10% has been allotted to cover any fees from crowdfunding.
UPDATE: Character creation is being planned for initial release!!
If we are fortunate enough to exceed our initial goal, we have many more conceptual functions that we plan to implement as stretch goals! Here's a look at the first two...
The first is full character customization. We will give the player options to change various portions of their character's appearance to tailor the character specifically to that player's liking! This will also spur on additional content (weapons, armor, nameplates, etc...) that will be released periodically through the lifespan of the game.
The second plan is Twitch Integration!! If we can raise enough via this crowdfund, we are going to integrate this game with the Twitch API giving player's the opportunity to play against their favorite streamers live via that streamers channel!
More info on those will be released as we go forward!
Rotating Games is not just a studio, but it's a community. A community of gamers started and run by gamers for gamers. We have a variety of players from RTS's, to MOBA's, BR's and FPS games. There's not a game that we don't play. So if you'd like to join us come by and check out the Discord >Here< and get in on the community!
You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep track of development.
Rotating Games is a new startup. The mission here is to create unique games that will break the norms of today's gaming world. With a flood of copycat games built on the same premise, we will strive to keep ideas fresh while interacting and gaming with our community on a regular basis to ensure that our artists/developers are in tune with the community needs. Invaded is our first run at this and we're hoping it will bring entertainment to all those who get to play!
Risks and challenges
Budgeting is a concern, as I've never budgeted a game before so this is a new experience but I think we nailed down all of the potential costs and things look solid. I'm working on being prepared for any eventuality, so we've added a bit of padding to ensure that we deliver a quality product. Another concern as with any big entertainment product is "Will this be entertaining?"Our community thinks so, but it's still unclear whether the population at large will, so we are constantly using community input to make this game as entertaining as possible. The only method I can see of overcoming both of these obstacles is to get out there and use our best judgement to overcome any obstacles, and with the help of the community I think that these potential issues can be easily managed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
