We are an acoustic metal band (Into the Rhine), planning to tour from Vermont to the northwest, and then to Alaska. We are trying to raise money to convert our diesel bookmobile(our guitarist work traded) to run on vegetable oil. We all have a lot of knowledge on converting diesel trucks to run on WVO(waste veggie oil), finding grease, & filtering it since all of us have traveled in and maintained veggie oil fueled vehicles before. If we can raise at least $2000 we will be able to buy everything we need for the conversion, including veggie oil tanks, fuel & coolant lines, filters, a heat exchanger, hundreds of dollars worth of brass fittings, valves, toggle switches and all the other miscellaneous parts we will need to make this a dependable, long lasting grease conversion that enables our band to tour for a long time to come. Apart from our love of diesel engines, we find it particularly important to try and take charge of our own means of energy production. We aren't trying to pretend like we are going to save the world, but our dependence on the petroleum industry is something we are trying to lessen. We have been touring in a WVO powered Isuzu P'up for a while and find it incredibly empowering to search out our fuel, collect and process it, and make it to our next show while enabling us to tour further with less money. Fossil fuels are a finite, ever more expensive resource. But, we can tour on WVO all the way to Alaska and back with your help. Thanks for taking your time to check us out, and hopefully we will be sending you some wicked awesome rewards from our WVO powered bookmobile on tour!
