About

YOU ARE INVITED TO BE A PART OF THIS AMAZING ECUADORIAN PROJECT!

Do you like rare y difficult to find publications?

WELL THIS IS YOUR CHANSE!

Interruptor is a unique publication. It is one of the first projects of its kind that comes from Ecuador. Represents a movement of creative people that wants to see and enjoy different and dynamic projects around them.

Our Story

Hi! my name is Sergio Silva. I’m an ecuadorian visual artist. I have been working for the past 6 years on visual art and graphic design projects in the city where I live and that I love, Quito – Ecuador. The visual art and graphic design local scene is very vibrant and diverse, but is still small and it’s in constant growth. In search and need of creating a space for showing work and dialoging with other artist I decided to create Interruptor.

Interruptor is an independent, collectable publication, a creative platform for all those who want to enjoy creating. The content of each edition is generated based on an open call, in which we propose a theme, in order to provoke people of different creative communities and see what ideas come to light. Having as an objective to join the essence of the work of different artist’s, to create a unique piece, art from beginning to end, free of advertising.

We did a first experiment creating Interruptor #1 – urban current, which left as surprised to see the commitment and quality work we received from different artists. The results were excellent. We selected the work of 25 artists from 8 different cities of Ecuador. We launched #1 on July 8 2010 in No Lugar (contemporary art platform), in an event full of digital installations, good food and performances from local scene musicians.

The second Open call had as its theme “children’s instinct”, which has now ended, the work has been received and selected. This edition will be a collective display of the work of young artists that still believe that print as a media has not yet died, there are 35 creators from different parts of Ecuador, Latin America and Spain.

This is why we come here to Kickstarter and ask for your help, we need to fund our project. Ecuador it’s a very small media where proposals like Interruptor are new and different, a way to inspire our selves and others, but are hard to fund!
