ISSUE 03: IMPACT
Our third issue, IMPACT, is set to publish this upcoming spring. This latest issue hones in on the sociopolitical effects design can have on our communities. With intentional design decisions, our work can propel change towards justice and liberation. However, when we forget to critically examine our choices, it can have lasting negative impacts on the climate, the status quo, and even people’s livelihoods.
Highlights from this issue include Systemic Cyclic Harm on Urban Design, The Cost of Maintaining a Brand, Artivism and Capitalism, as well as interviews with UC Davis Professor Tim McNeil, UC Davis Student Demi Chang, and UC Davis Alumna and Uber Senior Art Director Rosa Chou.

OUR PREVIOUS ISSUES
ISSUE 01: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Our first issue, First Impressions, was published in the spring of 2017. This issue served an introduction to the design community at UC Davis through curated articles, interviews, and galleries of student work. We explored our first impressions of what design is and how our definition of it changes with time. Included were the perspectives of current students at Davis, recent alumni, and faculty about what design is to them.
ISSUE 02: RE:BUILD
Our second issue, RE:BUILD, was published in the spring of 2018. Building upon our First Impressions, RE:BUILD examined how we and our communities create resilience in the face of hardships on an interpersonal and systemic level through design. This issue also encompassed not only what designers create, but how both our creations and ourselves constantly evolve through ideation–we are always rebuilding.
During the spring of 2016, design students and Founding Co-Directors Timothea Wang, Dana Chan, and Emily Luong came together with the idea of creating a magazine for UC Davis’s design department. They didn’t know how they would pull it off or what the end product would be, but that idea somehow became InPrint Magazine.
SO, WHO ARE WE?
InPrint Magazine is a student-run publication that discusses issues in the Design education, the industry, and the world through the lens of the design community at UC Davis. In each annual issue, we showcase the work, perspectives, and advice of students, alumni, and faculty across all disciplines.
As a club, we also provide a collaborative space for students to grow as interdisciplinary designers by engaging in graphic and web design, writing, photography, and social media.
Special thanks to bensoundsmusic for the music in the launch video.
Risks and challenges
Since we are student-run and not funded by UC Davis, the printing of our magazine depends completely on grants, sponsorships, funding campaigns, and donations. Now that we are in our third year, we want to take our publication to new heights.
We are launching our first Kickstarter campaign to ensure that we are able to fund this year's printing costs. We're going to be using perfect binding over staple binding to provide better durability. In addition, this issue will contain 64 pages of content – talk about an upgrade from our previous 48 pages! For all you print enthusiasts out there, we're also going to be adding spot gloss to the cover.
Our members have been working hard on their articles and spreads for IMPACT, and we want to see that hard work turn into a reality. In the event that we do not meet our financial costs for this year, we won't be able to add all the neat aforementioned elements that will make our newest issue our best and most unique yet.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
