Radiul is a sleek new document holder made from the highest-quality materials. Its patent-pending design is made possible by a curved groove that lets paper stand up by itself.
Radiul Mobile is the first document holder for both iPads and laptops. It’s super-compact and lightweight, attaching instantly to iPad screen or laptop lid and holding securely, yet detaching without residue or damage. Radiul Mobile lets you easily see your documents while you’re on the go.
Radiul Desktop is machined from a single, solid block of aluminum. It’s functional sculpture, designed to look fantastic on your desk and to last forever.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH RADIUL
In a paperless world you might manage without Radiul, but it’s super-useful in the real world, ergonomically positioning documents before your eyes so you don’t strain to see them, and letting you be more productive when you’re away from your desk. Some of the things you can do:
- Transcribe handwritten notes from a meeting or lecture
- Review a marked-up printout while you update the electronic file
- Refer to your notes while you’re writing an essay or prepping for an exam
- Read printed instructions while you work
- Study a photo while you hone your art skills with a drawing app
- Hold sheet music while you practice an instrument with no music stand
- Display a favorite photo without a frame
- Stand up playing or game cards so only you can see them
- Support a wine list at a cafe or an information card at a trade show
LONG-LASTING, BEAUTIFUL MATERIALS
Radiul Mobile and Radiul Desktop are American-made from the finest materials and components so they look great and don't break. High quality and utility make Radiul something that's a pleasure to own, or a great gift.
Radiul Mobile features a CNC-machined anodized aluminum channel into which you insert your papers, and two durable “feet” covered with thousands of tiny suction cups which hold Radiul to your device using vacuum. The channel connects to the feet through nearly-unbreakable stainless steel hinge pins. Radiul Mobile Deluxe comes with a genuine leather carrying case.
Radiul Desktop is machined from solid of aluminum and anodized. It’s supported by low-profile, elastomeric non-slip bumpers that protect your desk.
Radiul Mobile. You can set up Radiul Mobile for either iPads and desktop, or laptops and netbooks. Simply unroll the carrying case, remove the channel and feet, and push the hinge pins into holes in the feet. Then press the feet onto your device screen or lid and insert your papers. The entire process takes about 20 seconds. If you’ve got an iPad, the light from the screen can be enough to let you see your papers in the dark, letting you work in bed while your partner sleeps.
You can pivot the channel as needed, and it can be rotated parallel to the feet to reduce height, letting Radiul fit into many bags and cases while still attached to your device. To remove and stow Radiul, peel the feet off and pull them off the hinge pins. Then place the parts in the case with the feet nesting under the channel, and roll and snap the case.
Radiul Desktop. Simply insert your papers into the curved groove and you’re up and running.
WHERE THINGS STAND
We’ve designed, prototyped, and tested several generations of Radiul while perfecting the design and finalizing the materials and manufacturing processes. We’ve also identified and qualified great U.S. suppliers. We’re ready to place production orders but we need your backing to purchase tooling and fund the first production run, so we can bring Radiul to you at a discount, before it's available to anyone else.
We're very excited about Radiul and plan to start shipping Radiul Desktop just weeks after our campaign, and Radiul Mobile in November.
Please send us your comments and help us spread the word by Liking or Tweeting this page. If you'd like to pledge please use the BACK THIS PROJECT button at the top.
Thanks very much for your interest in Radiul.
iPad is a registered trademark of Apple Inc; iPads and laptop computers not included.
Radiul Mobile is designed to fit the iPad (all versions to date) perfectly. If you have another tablet of similar size it may also fit, and it will fit the lids of most laptops and netbooks. To be sure, check out the drawing and templates at www.radiul.com. Let us know if there’s a tablet or laptop you’d like Radiul to fit which it may not at present. We're looking at later creating a smaller version of Radiul Mobile to fit tablets such as the coming small Apple tablet.
Radiul Mobile typically holds 10-15 sheets of standard 8.5 x 11” paper. Radiul Desktop typically holds up to 20 sheets and also holds pads (like those yellow legal pads) with the cardboard backing in the groove and the paper outside of it.
We’ve held everything from small scratch pad sheets through 11x17” paper in both portrait and landscape orientations, with both Radiul Mobile and Radiul Desktop.
Radiul Mobile will ship with a pair of smooth adapter pads backed with a special 3M removable foam tape, which you can use if necessary. Just attach these to the lid and the feet will hold securely to the pads. The pads can be removed without residue or damage if you no longer need them.
1/2" (13 mm). Since most printers use a minimum margin of ½”, normally no text will be obscured.
About 2.5 ounces (70 grams); the leather case for Radiul Mobile Deluxe adds a bit of additional weight.
Not at this time. Let us know if you’re unhappy about that and we may reconsider. We intend for Radiul Desktop to be available later through the Radiul Web site and possibly other sources at retail pricing (expected to be $75 plus shipping).
Strong wind or a powerful nearby fan may dislodge papers from Radiul’s groove. If it's really breezy, it may even cause papers to flop over. Radiul Mobile Deluxe includes a stainless steel stabilizer that fits into the channel, providing additional support if needed. A small neodymium magnet is also included to clamp papers to the stabilizer in very windy conditions; both stabilizer and magnet fit into the leather carrying case.

If you use Twitter, you can Tweet this page (Tweet button is beneath the video) and create your own Tweet(s) that reference this page: some hashtags you might consider are: #iPad #Apple #laptop #tablet #gadgets #kickstarter #Radiul. And just letting people who may be interested in Radiul know by email or phone would be very helpful!
