In a world where technology is advancing at an incredible rate and everything seems to be revolving around the touch of the button, for me, there is nothing better than the feel of turning a page and watching my thoughts appear before my eyes with my pen on paper.
I love going to meetings, either with friends or something business related and taking my journal with me. No memory is forgotten, and no brilliant idea lost. As David Allen says in his best selling book 'Getting Things Done', if it takes two minutes, do it now. If it doesn't, write it on a list to do when you can. Take a look at his five simple steps that apply order to chaos. Writing things down is key to a clear, productive mind, as you no longer need to retain and remember EVERYTHING.
I have an insatiable need to plan everything, but I was never able to find the time to time manage. What a vicious circle I found myself in! One day when I was trawling the internet for ideas and inspiration, I stumbled upon Ryder Carroll's Bullet Journal method, which introduced me to organisational systems that I didn't even know existed.
I was excited to get started, but now it was time to find the perfect notebook, and of course, a leather cover to protect this wonderful extension of my brain!
A year and a half later... and endless research, information gathering and market research, I would like to introduce you to 'Theo'.
Theo can hold 4 notebooks:
STANDARD/NARROW INCLUDES: three pocket/field size (3.5 x 5.5 inches) and one standard/narrow (8.25 x 4.5 inches)
A5 INCLUDES: three pocket/field size (3.5 x 5.5 inches) and one A5 ( 5.83 × 8.27 inches)
There is an elasticated pen holder which can fit an array of different thicknesses of pens, 4 pockets and a business card holder.
The leather is made out of 1.8mm soft, full grain, oiled, pull-up leather, with a waxy feel. Rustic in its beauty showing the natural characteristics, a real touch of wabi-sabi. The pull-up effect causes the leather to lighten in colour when stretched or pulled to give this article a distressed or antique finish, allowing for the creation of authentic, rustic looking cover.
Each of these notebooks are meticulously hand crafted with the high quality Clairefontaine, fountain pen friendly paper.
- 48 pages of cream 80gsm paper
- 280gsm Kraft Card Cover
- Rounded corners
- Lined - very faint guides
- Plain first and back page with logo
Why have I called it Theo? You may ask.
My business, InkSmudge Journals, recently won a place in Theo Paphitis' (ex Dragons' Den investor) Small Business Sunday Club and therefore to mark this incredible opportunity and recognition, the name was born! Look how much it suits him!
All of the rewards are for a leather notebook cover, which includes a pack of 4 lined notebooks to ensure you are able to use it right away. Great if you want to send it as a gift to someone, or just so you can start using it as soon as it arrives at your door! Each one comes with a handmade cotton dust bag.
If you would like more than one notebook cover, you can increase your pledge at anytime by clicking 'manage your pledge'.
Here are the discounted prices:
Standard/Narrow Leather Notebook Cover: £120
A5 Leather Notebook Cover: £130
I will cover the extra postage and packaging.
Risks and challenges
The only risk I would foresee would be if my leather wholesaler had delays in getting the leather delivery to me. I have given myself enough time to ensure I will meet my deadline. This is my third Kickstarter and the previous two received their rewards a month before the deadline. I wouldn't be this organised if I didn't have my trusty Theo! ;)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
