Welcome to the world of IndiGraph!
With your help, we can take our new project forward: a pen that does not dry out and that allows the use of Indian/chinese ink.
Indigraph is aimed at users who want to draw or do calligraphy, such as urban sketchers, calligraphers, designers, illustrators, etc.
Would you like to have one in your pencil case? Help us to make it happen!
IndiGraph is the perfect solution for sketchers, calligraphers, designers and illustrators to express their creativity without interruptions. It is an innovative fountain pen that differs from the rest because of a unique advantage: its ability to keep the nib constantly moist, preventing the inks from drying out.
How does it achieve this? Using the advanced IndiGraph technology, a water reservoir is provided in the upper part of the pen cap, separated by a custom-designed membrane, which allows the passage of moisture – but not water – and stops the nib from ever drying out.
IndiGraph, unlike other fountain pens, allows the use of Indian inks. What’s special about this? While using this type of ink, when the ink dries, a waterproof film of shellac is created which protects the drawing from water, making it ideal for working with watercolours or inking comics, among other graphic arts.
This means that, if you become a true Indigrapher, you won't have to worry about ruining your work – with Indigraph that won’t happen.
The origin of the idea goes back to the need to be able to draw in the open air with Indian ink without a dip pen. In the 1980s, the English company ‘Osmiroid ’ produced a special pen for this purpose. The pen consisted of a normal fountain pen but with a nib that could be disassembled to clean it. The problem was that whenever you wanted to use it, it was always dry. For this reason, a couple of years ago we started to think about the problem, and it occurred to us that the important thing was to keep the nib moist and prevent the ink from drying.
This allowed the use of both Indian ink and coloured acrylic inks as well as calligraphy inks.
After a great many tests with sponges in the tip, different gels etc., we came up with the idea of creating a reservoir containing water and a membrane that only let moisture pass through, preventing the ink from being spoiled. After producing several prototypes and refining the system, it seemed to work well.
Once the issue of keeping the ink fresh was resolved, we began to look at the shape of the pen, taking into account ergonomics, materials and manufacturing,
Our pen is designed with a geometry that adapts to the user, creating excellent ergonomics. The pen narrows at the back allowing it to be held closer to the hand, which provides greater precision when drawing.
The pen weighs 21g and has a diameter of 11mm and a length of 145mm.
We have been working for some time on the development of Indigraph pen prototypes, until we reach the perfect design, which we have already achieved. So once we start receiving orders in Kickstarter we will start with the production, which takes around a month. Therefore, we will start sending orders at the end of July, to guarantee the delivery date will be in August.
