Ingrein is the world's first luxury wood smart clock, designed to help you be more present in your life. The hardwood face incorporates an LCD screen and light and sound sensors to interact with and display information from your smart devices and favorite apps.
The genesis of the Ingrein smart clock came when we realized we were hyper-connected to our phones, and even at home and in the company of others, weren't disconnecting. We designed the clock so that during the setup process you can customize your notifications to stay alerted to what you personally deem important, but filter out the rest of the noise.
At home or in your office, break away from the addiction to your smart phone and be more present in your life.
Constant interruptions from our smartphones are damaging our personal relationships and reducing our ability to read a book, have a good conversation, watch a movie, or do anything else uninterrupted. Ingrein enables you to put your phone aside and if anything important is happening, the smart clock will let you know. You won’t be distracted by an insignificant notification.
At work, be more productive and never miss another meeting or call Know what is next in your calendar without having to look at your phone. Just glance at it. A notification from Ingrein that your next meeting is approaching can let both of you know time is running out and it's time to wrap up.

We are building the furniture of the future by creating new ways to interact with our digital lives. We are starting with a clock.
We believe that there are better ways to view and send information than using a keyword or a flat screen. By ingraining cutting edge technology in beautiful objects, we are creating specialized devices that use motion, sound, contextual information, and light to interact with you in a more human way.
We have expertise in hardware, software, carpentry, design, and business. That is why we have been able to support real beta customers for over 9 months and why we know we can deliver these pledges to you.
After you complete your pledge, we will send you an email survey where you can pick the style of wood for your clock(s). If you selected a reward tier with more than one clock, you will be able to select different styles – mix and match or get a matching set, it is up to you!

Risques et défis
1) An error in the electronics board (PCB) when we ship to backers.
Low Risk. By the time we ship the Ingrein Clocks, we would have already done three previous iterations with our hardware supplier (plus countless prototypes). We have also completed a DFM (design for manufacturing review) by our supplier (Seeed Studio).
2) Delay or cost overrun obtaining FCC and CE certifications.
Low Risk. It is possible but not likely as the micro-controller and WiFi chip and antenna (Particle.io Photon) have already been FCC/CE certified. Thus, we only need to obtain the "unintended emitter" certification that is a lot easier, faster, and less expensive.
3) Wood face of the clock might stretch or contract (wood does do that) damaging the electronics attached to it.
Low Risk. The wood in the Ingrein clock is dried to 6% humidity to ensure this won't happen. In addition, we have left a small "wiggle" room in the design to absorb small changes in the face dimensions.
4) Delays in the schedule.
Low Risk. We have backed several projects ourselves to understand the process well and know the common pitfalls of projects that don't deliver or are delayed. That is why we have waited to launch our campaign until we have a production ready product, and real paying customers who have been using the clock for over 6 months. In addition, we have added over one month buffer into our production schedule with the understanding that the unexpected may happen.
5) Run out of money for production
Low Risk. We have real quotes for different production volumes from the suppliers we will use for mass production (the same that we have been working with for the last year for the beta production runs). We feel confident that our calculations are correct.
