Well met, traveler! I'm Alex and I run this fine establishment. Please, take a look around and let me know if I can help you find anything. What's that? A Spellbook of Necromancy? Um.. Aisle 5 next to the cookbooks. If you get to the owlbear you've gone too far. He's tame, but don't look him in the eye. Tends to challenge customers to the death and all that.
Oh! Before you wander off, please gaze upon our newest product - The Tome of Holding! What's it do? Well, it's an ordinary book, as you can plainly see. But behold - wonders abound inside! Room enough to hold all of your weaponry, gold pieces, and anything else you may desire! If the cover is not to your liking, my hedge wizard can fix that up for you...
All of the manufacturing happens in my basement woodshop where I maniacally whip two carving demons (CNC routers) to do my bidding. They were designed and built a few years ago for the RPG Coasters campaign. Regular maintenance has kept them humming along producing parts going on 3 years.
Aside from the tools controlled by computers, I employ a number of hand tools to ensure that each piece is finished to the best quality.
There are three coats of finish on the Tomes. A base thin poly for moisture protection, an oil blend that helps the detail in the artwork pop, then a light sanding and a final clear lacquer spray so it feels good to the touch.
The only part that will limit shipping, besides my throughput, is the artwork. Tomes with no artwork will be the first to ship out (Tier 1) as I can work on these and build up stock during the campaign. From there I'll go down the backer list numerically and build everyone's Tome who has artwork ready.
I plan to beat the delivery date of next summer in most cases and to give regular updates as to the status of things.
I ship everything via the USPS. Most of the continental states receive shipments in two days but if you're on the outskirts, it will be three.
For other countries, it can take up to two weeks for delivery.
WHO'S DOING ALL THIS?
Artwork - Dan Warren
If you have been playing video games, reading comic books, or been on Kickstarter for a while you will have most likely seen Dan's work before. His latest campaign, Steve Lichman Vol II, kind of went crazy. He and I have been working together for quite a few years now and have a great working relationship; primarily, trying to filter my ideas through his pen and come out with something awesome.
Everything Else - Alex Ingram
I've been working in engineering and design positions for about 15 years now and use my woodshop in my spare time to chase the American dream.
Ideally one day I will be able to put an addition on the house and expand the woodshop into its own wing of Ingram Manor and out of my basement.
If you want to know anything else, just ask and I'll give it a good FAQing.
Risks and challenges
The risks of this project are minimal. I have been making and selling wooden gaming accessories for quite a few years now. I've had two successful Kickstarter campaigns in the past and delivered them mostly on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
