Risks and challenges
This is our second Kickstarter project and the first with physical rewards that will require global shipping. Our first project was actually the production of the fantasy fonts used on these coins. The fonts were delivered via email to backers immediately after the project funding was processed.
For this project we have decided to keep the pledge levels very simple, no Backerkit, no complex shipping schemes, no stretch goals that overextend the scope of the project and drag out fulfillment for months.
The funding level of $3200 was carefully chosen to fully cover manufacturing, Kickstarter fees and taxes, shipping costs, labor, materials and a cushion for possible postal losses; for the minimum number of coins needed to break even.
The coin fulfillment date of June was determined by adding some padding to deal with possible production delays and to account for the man hours required to ship a project of this scope. We think it is better to ere on the side of caution than to lure additional backers with an unrealistic fulfillment date.
The coins will be shipped from the mint to our storage space by airmail with tracking, so there will be no waiting for months while a container may or may not be at sea. Once we have the production run of coins they will begin shipping immediately via USPS priority mail to backers in the order that pledges were received.
Updates will be posted in a timely manner after the coins are successfully funded in order to keep backers in the loop regarding the production and shipping.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
