Die for Valhalla! is a beat ‘em up with a paranormal twist. You are a Valkyrie, a ghostly witch, sent to help Vikings save their world.
You summon heroes from Valhalla and make them hack, slash and crush. Your job is to make sure they take down as many enemies as possible before they Die for Valhalla!
You will also discover tales about Vikings and their Myths. As a Valkyrie, you will seek the truth about yourself and the nature of the world. Things are not always what they seem.

With Die for Valhalla! We want to create a game that gives you plenty of different ways to tackle the challenges of being a Valkyrie.
You will rise Heroes and defeat Monsters on your way to solve the mystery behind the Invasion. Glory awaits.
Golden Axe: We love the Golden Axe for it’s tight design. This game defined just what a beat ‘em up was back in the ‘80s. From combination strikes, leaping assaults through dashing bull charges all the way to ultimate abilities and rideable creatures.
Castle Crashers: This game reintroduced beat ‘em ups to a wide audience. It’s graphical variety and game execution are something we strive for in Die for Valhalla!
Diablo 2: A game definitely in the love/hate category. It used a variety of tools to make hacking and smashing exciting and those are the things we look up to.
There are seven types of Vikings that you can possess and summon as a Valkyrie. Each of them comes with a set of special abilities and combos.
There are two ways to take control of a Viking. You can either summon fallen heroes back from Valhalla through their tombstones or you can possess a living Viking and make them a hero. You can always send them off if you need a different weapon.
With the right skills you can also possess things and Monsters.
As a Valkyrie your job is to turn Vikings into heroes through battles and heroic deeds like rescuing other warriors.
Your efforts are measured through the amount of Glory they gain and for that you are awarded with new abilities and bonuses. On the other hand, the more Glory a Viking earns, the more powerful they become.
We are focused on making the game fun to play on your own, however, playing video games with friends is great. That’s why Die for Valhalla! can be played together with up to 4 players on a single screen.
Your decisions have consequences. Certain places might not be accessible and paths will diverge to different places and events.
Overarching story of the Valkyries will be the centerpiece of the game but at the same time stories of the individual Vikings will be told as they answer their calls to adventures and prevail or die in glory.
Our Composer Paweł Górniak is a winner of The Mark Awards for the Best Folk Track awarded by PMA in Santa Monica. He is doing amazing job for Die for Valhalla! as well and you can hear a sample below:

We have a solid gameplay alpha with a strong sense of what needs to be done next. We have some music and sounds done. The story has finally came together and we are working on implementing it into the game. Our focus now is adding new content and balancing the gameplay.
We started working on Die for Valhalla! over a year ago, and today we are almost there. With your help the game has potential to become something awesome.
We hope to reach people that would love the idea behind Die for Valhalla! and want to become part of our journey.
As Monster Couch we have partnered with our friends at Indie Designers to make our project available on Kickstarter without the costs and legal hassles of running the project from Poland.
Most of the funds for the base goal will go towards music, sound design and age ratings to make it possible to release the game worldwide. Money from stretch goals will go towards additional content and soothing our wives’ wrecked nerves.
Risks and challenges
Die for Valhalla! has gone through a lot of reworks in the past. A few times we created new cool features only to realize we have to throw them away because playtests proved us wrong. We are confident about the core mechanics but some features might still change.
There are some additional risks of working with a community because we need to balance which new ideas are worth the time it takes to experiment and add polish. We need to balance being open minded with making sure we don't fall prey to feature creep. We will keep our eyes on the finish line.
We are already working closely with the console platform holders and Die for Valhalla! will be released on both Playstation 4 and Xbox One. We are also working on including Switch on that list.
Also simultaneous launch has it’s own challenges - for example dealing with ratings necessary for launching on consoles. This brings us to Kickstarter, to ask for your help.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
