About

This project has been restlessly kicking around in my mind for several years. The desire exists, the drive exists, but I have always fallen short on budget. That's where you come in, I hope.

This production will be performed on 6, 7, and 8 June in Fort Collins, Colorado; as funding will be used to secure a venue, I have not been able to reserve space yet, but I will update the Facebook page as I claim a space!

About me:
I'm 24 years old, a Senior at Colorado State University (BA, History with a concentration in the Italian language), and a performer to the core. I have been performing since a young age, but I didn't set foot on the stage until I was seventeen. I have, however, performed in numerous roles in everything from independent festival productions to mainstage productions on a grand scale. My directing experience comes in the form of having produced and choreographed three production numbers in 2007-2009, performed by my independent figure skating company The Jets.

  • The Prisoner in Shane Curtiss Miller's Sinthesis with The Sinthesis Players (2012-2013)
  • Oompa Loompa in Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with Fort Collins Children's Theatre (2013)

About the project:
My strongest desire is to go into this show knowing that the rehearsal process will provide a safe space in which my actors can grow. The most positive acting experiences I have ever had were those in which I could have easily become frustrated, had the directors not given me their patience and their ears to voice the problems I was having. I intend to produce not only a memorable and exciting show, but an experience to remember for a lifetime.
The plan is to perform the show at a theatre in Fort Collins, Colorado. But in order to do that, we need to raise enough money to rent the space for a weekend. We must also raise enough money to obtain the rights to the production (licensed through MTI), secure costumes, and rent a rehearsal space.

Why 1776?
The United States find themselves in unrest, wherein we take note of the two-party system and forget that we are all individuals but also human beings. The message carried by this show is one of reconciling differences in order to move forward and tackle the bigger problems in life. Furthermore, the script and music are evocative, emotional, thought-provoking, terribly funny, and poignant-- all at once. I have never before read so well-written a libretto.

Risks and challenges

The primary difficulties anticipated by the production crew are those inherent in casting. The production requires a large cast (20+) and mid-sized orchestra. However, Fort Collins has a large and passionate theatrical community, and I believe that with successful funding, a regular and manageable rehearsal schedule, and a welcoming atmosphere, the project can succeed. If such setbacks occur, certain roles can be double-cast, and the orchestra can be recorded separately to create performance tracks. Furthermore, I have already begun to tackle this problem before it begins, in that I am actively seeking my cast before we receive funding, so that we may begin rehearsing early and present a strong picture to those entering the production after we receive funding.
