Frequently Asked Questions
Well, we are experiencing a distinct lack of time and extra funds to make it out to any far-away conventions...at least this year! We do try to make it out to a couple of local conventions each year, and we will post about them on our Facebook page when we've scheduled those. In the meantime, feel free to print out a copy of the PnP playtest version and give it a go with your friends at the cons - we'll be online to answer any questions that arise!Last updated:
What happens if there is a tie between two or more Citadels when Zodraz appears to make his final judgement?
Oops! We left that out of the playtest rulebook! (We have literally NEVER experienced a tie in all the months we've been playing around with it, if you can believe it.) Rest assured it will be added on final printing. In the meantime, here's what happens:
First, if one of the tied Citadels has the Reigning Tribute among its Legacies, that Citadel wins. If none of the tied Citadels has the Reigning Tribute, a *final* Tribute Fantos Action is forced between all tied Citadels (repeated as necessary), and the winner of that final Tribute becomes the ultimate Warden of Fantos (wins the game)!Last updated:
Will you offer discounted shipping for bulk orders, especially to help your backers save on overseas shipping cost?
We are happy to help work something out that will save you money on shipping costs, if you can get a large group together to order multiple copies under one pledge. Please send us a private Kickstarter message, and we will get back to you with details.Last updated:
Our intention with this first printing is to make the game available in English only, as multiple print runs in small quantities gets quite expensive. However, if you would like to offer your translation services, we can work with you to provide a print-and-play version in other languages at a later date. Plus, if future popularity warrants it, we may be able to contact international publishers to see if they would like to work with us to produce multi-language versions of the game after this first printing is complete.Last updated:
Well, for now, the game itself is pretty much a Kickstarter Exclusive, as we don't have plans for a huge distribution for it! The best way to insure that you are among the first group of people to have the game in-hand is to back the campaign at "The Game" level or above. While we can't see the future, if we ever do end up agreeing to a distribution deal (and, it'd have to be a pretty sweet deal), we definitely won't let them have first dibs or lower the MSRP of $29.99. Kickstarter has been good to us, and our backers are important!
*EDIT: We are not offering a Kickstarter Exclusive art print, for those who really want to get their hands on something that won't be available anywhere else! Check the main campaign page and reward levels for details.Last updated:
The mat is not required to play the game, but it can make the set-up a bit easier to follow. Plus, it can work as a visual reminder of how many cards should be in the Legacy Pool at all times, and the max number of Trials you may have in-play at any point during the game. It also works as a place to pile the extra Shards that act as "The Trove" in the game.
The mat will not fit in the game box, but it is very easy to roll up and store next to the box. We suggest storing the mats rolled because if they are folded for too long, they form creases, which can be quite annoying!Last updated:
Right now, the game is meant for at least 3 players, and plays best with 4-5. The game was designed and developed with larger, socially interactive groups in mind. That said, the game *can* be played with 2, but you will find that it can become a bit too easy for one player to quickly overpower the other, especially if one player is more advanced than the other. The interaction level and decision-making process is also lowered in a 2 player game.
It is possible that we will have the time to design a 2-player variant in the future, but for now, plan for at least 3 at the table.
Or...you can do like we do sometimes when playtesting: attempt a 6-player game with only 1 person! (But, only if you don't mind going a little insane in the process...)Last updated:
We will not be using any third party services to send out surveys and continue taking orders, if that's what this question means.
We will, however, offer the game and mat for pre-order on our own website until fulfillment begins. The only difference will be in the shipping cost, as we have subsidized those costs for backers who choose to participate in the KS campaign. So, if you wait to pre-order until after the campaign ends that's fine with us, but please be aware that your shipping costs may go up $5-$15 depending on your region.Last updated:
