We're raising funds to produce Season 4 (and maybe more!) of the science fiction audio drama podcast: Immunities. This podcast is distributed free, and has received a lot of positive reaction, for both its chills and the more serious dramatic & social aspects. You can see some of this at our reception page.
So far, we've successfully made three seasons (15 "story" episodes) about this quiet alien apocalypse, by using borrowed recording facilities & equipment. But these are no longer available.
So we're looking to kickstarter to make it possible to give our audience more. And because we've already started the process of writing the new seasons, we think that we can provide new content to our audience more regularly than ever before (that's where our Stretch Goals come in).
GOALS & STRETCH GOALS:
$500 would allow us to buy the recording equipment we now need (microphones, interfaces), and to pay our actors for Season 4.
$1000 would get us enough to also pay the actors for Season 5, as well as our first outside writer: Jacqueline Bryk. This way, we could not only go ahead without another kickstarter, but we could produce both seasons at once, thereby getting them to our listeners much faster than past seasons. (And speed is especially important in a world where actor availability can change at any time.)
$1500 would do the same for Season 6, allowing us to produce and release three seasons during the interval it usually takes us for one.
Any additional funds would be spent on better equipment, or banked for the future.
THE FUTURE (and how YOU can help decide it):
We're considering tying up the main story-line at the end of Season 6. There are many stories to tell in the Immunities world, and it feels like we've just started, but in OUR world it can be hard to keep the cast together, so it might be good to create a conclusion while we can. Definitely a question with two sides, and we'd like outside input. So, immediately after the kickstarter ends, we will invite all our supporters, at all levels, to take part in a poll to settle the question.
Risks and challenges
Since we are now experienced at putting the show together, the main risk is actor unavailability, since, although we pay them, we don't pay them enough for them to structure their lives around us. If this creates an obstacle, we will adapt by rewriting the story to use different characters (which we've done before), adapting our schedule (ditto), or re-casting the part (which we haven't had to do yet, knock on wood).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
