My name is Iman Europe. I am a singer/songwriter/rapper, born in New York, raised and based in Los Angeles, California. I am a UC Riverside graduate with a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. I’ve been pursuing my career in music for about 8 years now, collaborating with and writing for some of your favorite artists. I have released two EP’s, toured and opened shows for legends such as Frankie Beverly & Maze, had my music placed on two official Spotify playlists, and now it’s time for the next big step: releasing my first album.
Nami is Iman spelled backwards, a nickname given to me by some of my closest friends and family. However, nami also means “wave” in Japanese and “us” in Polish. With that said, Nami is my journey through the waves of love and life, and how to create a soft landing for yourself through self-love. The album inspires personal growth, appreciation of life, and an honoring of self over very dope instrumentals. It falls into the categories of R&B, Soul & Hip-Hop and has a west-coast bounce to it. I've heard that Nami sounds like "sonic sunshine", perfect for the summer-time. With that being said, now is the time to get it up and running.
Independently, I’ve funded Nami on my own. I’ve written every song without any co-writers and collaborated with topnotch producers and engineers to bring the album to fruition. I’ve covered all costs on my own thus far, working full time as a high-school teacher to make ends meet, and after nearly 3 years, I have finished the album!
In January of this year, Nami was leased and distributed in Tokyo, Japan through Sweet Soul Records, a Japanese record label. The album has been gaining much notoriety there and is on sale at different album stores throughout Tokyo (where CDs are still king). Nami is currently being sold at Tower Records, where it is displayed and promoted on its own shelf, with its own listening booth, and a banner that expands across the entire mantelpiece. It is also ranked #1 on the Sweet Soul Records shelf at HMV! Needless to say, the album is a hit, with reviewers from Tower Records deeming it as a “masterpiece” and a “floating sensation”. The international recognition of my work has been a beautiful experience, but it’s time to bring Nami home.
Sometimes asking for help is hard to do. But I’m learning that pride immobilizes us, and is only meant to detour us from destiny. I’m choosing humility instead, with faith that I can succeed. Although I could simply upload the album online like thousands of other artists (and like I’ve done in the past), this is my first album, and it is of exceptional quality. Therefore, it deserves to be presented to the rest of the world the right way.
Since the album is already created, mixed and mastered, all I need now is your help promoting and advertising Nami. The money I’m raising on Kickstarter will allow donators to pre-sale my album (along with extra added incentives!) while also funding marketing, music videos, photography, and merchandise for the album run. Although the biggest task is done, it’s going to take funding for these things to fulfill the dream in full.
This website, Kickstarter, will only distribute donations to me if the goal is met! Meaning, if I don't reach my goal of $10,000 in full (even if it's $9,999), I will not receive ANY funding and the money will be returned to the pledgers. However, Kickstarter does allow you to exceed your goal. So although I need to raise much more than I’m asking for, I believe that this is a great starting point to cover my needs.
Here are the incentive packages I have created based on your pledge amount to show my appreciation:
Aside from the music and merchandise, I have written an affirmation book titled "Nami Says". It comes with tear-out affirmations that you can post anywhere you need to see them, filled with words to live by and remind you of your power. I believe this book will be very special.
Thank you for taking the time to give this a read. The best projects come from contributed efforts and I am looking forward to experiencing the success of Nami with you! I appreciate any help you can extend and can't wait for you to hear Nami this June!
Please spread the word and share this page with as many people as possible.
