FUNDED! Woo Hoo! "Thank you" to all who have contributed thus far.
But wait, there's more! You can still contribute until Friday, Aug. 29th. If/when we get to $10,000 we will begin working on the app! We've actually already done a storyboard and worked out some app specific details. And we will make sure that everyone who has already contributed will be able to download a FREE version of the app when it comes to fruition.
All reward levels are still available, so feel free to give what you can. Books, t-shirts, Nalgene bottles, and immortality (in the form of your name in a children's book acknowledgements) are all still available.
And "thank you" once again. We are thrilled at the outpouring of support.
The story behind I'm an Alligator. I'm a Crocodile.
Did you ever wonder, “What’s the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?” Or a turtle and tortoise? Or a frog and toad? Or a dozen other animals that are similar but different?
We did. So we wrote a book about it. A kids' picture book that’s lots of fun and educational too! It’s called… I’m an Alligator. I’m a Crocodile.
Through amusing drawings and clever text, kids and parents get to learn the subtle differences between an assortment of animals that we all get mixed up, like seals and sea lions. And in the end, readers get to challenge themselves by finding the various animals in a unique forest jungle of birds, bugs, mammals, and reptiles.
We are raising money to cover printing, distribution, and promotion costs. The most expensive part of creating a book is the physical production. We're using this Kickstarter campaign to raise money to print the first edition by asking people to pre-order the book and get some special rewards as well, including a personalized copy, a t-shirt, and a Nalgene bottle with the Alligator/Crocodile characters.
We both have experience with publishing books, so we have contacted our knowledgeable friends in that world to help create the best quality book. I'm an Alligator. I'm a Crocodile will be 24 pages, illustrated in full color, and bound in a sturdy hard cover. We've bought a lot of books for our own kids and plan to offer parents excellent value for their money.
Perhaps, like us, you are always looking for good books for your kids. Books that teach them about the natural world, books that help them develop their observational skills, books that make them feel they know what’s “truly true” and “really real.” I’m an Alligator. I’m a Crocodile does just that.
We hope you'll join us in helping to bring this fun, exciting, and positive project to life!
Please feel free to post, share, text, tweet, Instagram, blog, send morse code, whatever you'd like www.ImanAlligator.com to all your friends and family.
And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed thus far.
Sincerely, Shawn Persinger & Tom Shultz

Risks and challenges
We spent a lot of time making sure the text of our book was clear and concise but also fun and educational. The same goes for the drawings. We went through a number of changes which included various background images and personifications.
After getting great feedback and positive encouragement from kids (we both have two kids, and Tom has two grandkids), moms and dads, and grandparents, we know we have come up with a book that is both visually and verbally stimulating, can be read over and over again, and educates both kids and parents. Fun for the whole family!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
