The patent-pending Nurture system includes a unique combination nursing and pumping bra with attachable massage cups that provide a personalized massage designed to simulate hands-on pumping. Nurture will drastically improve the efficiency and ease of milk expression when used in conjunction with an electric breast pump. A more efficient and empowering experience for nursing women everywhere.
While developing Nurture, we spoke with a lot of women who nurse and pump; and what we heard time and time again was that one of the most frustrating inconveniences of pumping is the time it takes.
In fact, 74% of mothers initiate breastfeeding, but only 43% make it through the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended duration of six months of exclusive breastfeeding (1). Largely because of time and work conflicts, compounded by the challenges associated with pumping.
We built Nurture to help women achieve their breastfeeding goals while freeing up more time to spend on themselves, their families, and their work/life balance.
Nurture’s patent-pending technology was conceived by experts in the healthcare, medical device, lactation, and lingerie space to disrupt the status quo in a market that historically lacks innovation. The progressive compression massage from the chest wall forward has been thoughtfully designed to mimic hands-on pumping, a technique recommended by lactation experts to increase the efficiency of your breast pump. The massage allows the breast to be fully emptied, which results in an increase in the volume of milk expressed and a reduction in the occurrence of breast pain associated with mastitis, clogged milk ducts, and breast engorgement. Imalac’s goal is to provide a much-needed solution to alleviate the stress and challenges experienced by the majority of nursing mothers while pumping.
Nurture is designed for your comfort by top lingerie experts, so you can wear it as you would any other bra. When it’s time to pump, simply:
The Nurture experience is enjoyable and easy to use. Through the Nurture app on your smartphone or tablet, you can quickly and conveniently:
- Customize the pressure, speed, and hold time of your massage
- Versatility allows for use on the individual breast or both sides
- Synchronize massage or create individual settings
- Track pumping duration and milk output over time
- Save your favorite settings for easy reuse
Through the Nurture app, you’ll be able to adjust everything from the pressure to the speed and hold time at the touch of a button. If you find that one breast produces more easily than the other, no problem! You can adjust each side independently for an experience that fits you.
And because moms have enough to do already, you won’t have to re-enter your preferences every time you massage. Just save your customized settings to pick up, pump, and go.
Careful attention has been paid to ensure that Nurture fits a broad range of sizes and shapes of women maximizing its effectiveness.
Nurture is the next evolution in lactation technology. Our system goes above and beyond to make life easier for nursing mothers while improving upon the technology of the past for an experience that’s familiar, comfortable, and empowering. Here’s how our technology compares:
Nurture was pioneered by mother-daughter team Noreen and Rachael to help busy mothers find success in their breastfeeding experience. Using Rachael’s expertise as a certified lactation counselor and Noreen’s background in the business world, they’ve built a seamless operation with women’s needs at the forefront.
Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend that infants be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of life, with continued breastfeeding along with the introduction of appropriate complementary foods beyond 1 year of age. (6)
