STARR MAZER IS HAPPENING!

That's some movie poster like image right there.

Thank you. Wow. Just...thanks. No fancy talk here. We had a dream. First it was Don's dream to make a game he's always wanted to play. He talked about it constantly to every person he met. Slowly, over many years, he was able to find people who were excited about that dream. Some of those people had developed skills which could make this dream a reality. Then they all gathered together to build this dream. But they couldn't do it on their own. They figured out exactly what it would take to make this dream come true. Then they asked for help. Your help. And you gave it. You have taken a portion of your hard earned time and money away from your dreams to support ours. Not only did you support this project, but you joined our ranks. You reached out asking others to participate in this dream. And it's finally happening. It might have been 30 days for you, but this is over a decade of work for Don. Thank you.

FANART CONTEST WINNERS

We had a wealth of amazing and inspiring art sent to us by all of you. Unfortunately with that was the difficult task of picking a few to win. There were so many heartfelt awesome entries. In the end, we picked three that inspired us the most. These images are worth far more than the words I could put to them. But make sure to click each one to check out more of their work!

THEME-IX CONTEST WINNERS

This is officially a word now. Theme-ix. A name which now has great power from your amazing contributions. We listened to these all so many times. But the contest doesn't have any value if we just include all the tracks. So we had to pick a few. We were able to pick tracks that both show the diversity of the songs through other genres, as well as how far the music could be pushed while still feeling like Starr Mazer. Be sure to like these ones and add them to playlists that loop forever.

VHS GLITCH

VHS Glitch not only submitted this theme-ix, but another one AND a fanart entry, all of which were amazing. But at 1:00 it was over. THAT GUITAR!!

JACOB DAWSON

https://soundcloud.com/starr-mazer/jacob-dawson-daley-django-mazer?in=starr-mazer/sets/starr-mazer-theme-ix-entries
Jacob has brought Starr Mazer to a new world where hats were wide and horses were the most reliable form of transportation.

BEN BURNES

https://soundcloud.com/starr-mazer/ben-burnes-theme-ix-entry?in=starr-mazer/sets/starr-mazer-theme-ix-entries
Ben's first track was the inspiration for the entire contest itself. We got a taste of this track early, but the final version blew us away. It's authentic, it's beachy, and is a beautiful dance of the styles of Starr Mazer and Ben Burnes. Starr Burnes. Ben Mazer.

UNDERWORLD ASCENDANT

In case you haven't heard, there is a classic fantasy RPG being made by industry legends. Those with direct lineage from the Looking Glass Legacy. With people like Paul Neurath, Chris Siegel, and Warren Spector involved, it's going to be good. But if you're not savvy with developer names, you may have heard of games like Thief, System Shock, or Deus Ex. Yeah, the team has been involved in those amazing games. And now they're making this:

Yeah, put that classic fantasy RPG right INTO MY VEINS!
Yeah, put that classic fantasy RPG right INTO MY VEINS!

This is one that you're going to want to check out.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The funding is complete. Now we get to go back to game development FULL TIME! The team is so freaking excited for this. Over the next few weeks we're going to focus completely on pre-production. We'll be fleshing out every detail of the universe, nailing the specifications of the visual style, and building the foundational tools needed to implement the game's content. In addition to that, Don, Vanessa, and others will be hitting up the Game Developer's Conference, PAX East, and South by Southwest to continue getting people pumped about Starr Mazer and making a plan for the full release. If you're going to be at any of those events, hit us up through twitter or e-mail so we can hang out! We know that the 5,055 of you are already super stoked for this game. But when we release next year, we want it to be even more massive than the current levels of excitement. Besides, Don hasn't given up on 3DS yet. There are ways to still make it happen. Stay tuned to find out how to help.

Any chance you'll do a PS4 port even though you didn't hit the stretch goals?
