Poets - A Short Film KICKSTARTER!

To My Dear Backers,

I am proud to announce the launch of the most ambitious project of my life to date.

This Summer I, Asher Genoot and Kyle Wasserman are producing a short film called "Poets". We are USC students in the School of Cinematic Arts and Marshal School of Business and have collaborated on multiple short films together, including the award-winning short The Details.

What is Poets? Poets is an independent short film I wrote Spring Semester at USC. It is the story of a boy named Arthur and a girl named Elle, two slam poets, who begin a turbulent love affair. The story is about their journey on and off the stage, how they clash and collide, the personifications of truth and art. Today, we beginto fundraise Poets on

Thanks to you, we funded my first Kickstarter project, Masa: Stories of a Lone Soldier, in just one week. I am proud to say that the book has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response. If you liked the book, or if you just want to see my first real professional film become a reality, I turn to you now, again, to ask for your help.

We are filming the five-day shoot in the Bay Area with the most professional equipment and crew we can muster. This is where you come in.

The Kickstarter will help fund the camera and lighting equipment, locations, set design, catering, transportation, and film festival submissions.

I ask you for your support in any form possible. Spread the word, donate to the cause if you can. As of this moment, our kickstarter project goes live on On the surface, the goal is to raise enough money to fund the pre-production, production and post-production of the film. The more important goal is to tell the intimate story about love and loss, about truth and art, about every passion we harbor within our hearts. The story immerses the audience into a world unlike any other, Slam, while telling the story of two very raw real people. At once, entertaining and challenging, funny and moving, Poets is a story that must be shared with the world.

Thank you!

Book Reviews - New Projects

First and foremost, I would like to thank everybody that made "Masa: Stories of a Lone Soldier" possible. The publishing and distribution process was an immense challenge that I never could have faced without you all. Thank you!

I have received many emails and phone calls in regards to the book, with what I am proud to say, is very positive feedback. The book currently has a 5-Star Rating on Amazon. Here is the link. Please, if you have the time, write your own review. Spread the word.

There are still a few people I believe who somehow did not receive their book. Please notify me if you are one of these people--I will send you a book immediately.

Last but not least, I would like to take a moment to tell you what I am doing now. For the past 6 months, I have studied Screen Writing at the University of Southern California. I have produced multiple short films and won some of the Cinema School's most coveted awards and prizes, including an intimate meeting with legendary Director Robert Zemeckis. My films are all online, available to be watched in the leisure of your home. Click here to see them.

This Summer I will be producing two more short films of greater ambition and scope. The first, my friend Jack Martin's deeply personal film about loss called "Dad" just began its Kickstarter campaign yesterday. If you have the time, watch the video, share it, see for yourselves how meaningful a project it is. I would not send you this email were it anything less.

Again, I thank you all for your continued support and your dedication to these independent projects. Know that whatever successes I have gleaned, I have because of you. Thank you.

Update - Process

Hello friends and family!

I wanted to give you a little update and a little insight into the publishing process. Right now, I am working with a creative team from Amazon's CreateSpace to design the interior and exterior of the book. The final manuscript has been professionally edited and submitted and so far, we are on schedule to publish and deliver the books by late November, early December. It is all very exciting and again, I must emphasize that I could never have gotten this far without your help. Thank you again!

Soon, I will be emailing each and every one of you in regards to two things: 1) your shipping address and 2) how you would like your name/name of your family written in the acknowledgements.  Stay tuned. And thank you!

Friends and family,

‎28 days, 107 backers, $4858 dollars--all for one little book. There are not enough words. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.
