WE'VE GOT UPDATES!
New stretch goal and also, new artists & artwork!
iksvy art talks
is an interview/storytelling podcast that stems from art, and is the result of a curator and a painter who work on opposite sides of the same industry and want to provide insight into a world that many are unfamiliar with.
In short: Through casual conversation-style interviews, we want to tell the stories of some of the creative minds who have left their mark on Eastern Europe
To not leave anything out: We're doing this with a love for the subject, to share our guests' experiences as well as our own. Stories from those who live this life, have struggled to get where they are, and can be a source of inspiration for others. We want it to be engaging. We want people to be interested. It's not just for artists, it's for anyone who loves a good story, for anyone who loves creativity. It's all an encompassing global subject that we think many, many people will get something out of.
In a regularly scheduled podcast, Zeren will sit down with various artists and art professionals for a conversation-style interview. We'll keep it free and unrestricted, and give you a glimpse at the artists themselves, the inner workings of their minds, their pasts, ideas and inspirations, and much much more!
We've already recorded several episodes, and have released a teaser to show you the format:
(Update: Feb 18th - we're releasing a second 10-min teaser episode due to such great feedback on the first one! )
**All rewards will above $25 will include the email, postcard, and early access ($1,10, and 25 rewards)**
Thank you email: You'll receive a custom email containing our undying gratitude! We'll register you for our newsletter, so you'll get updates throughout the campaign and for the rest of our projects.
Postcards: A handwritten postcard awaits for you! Remember, you can get this old school "Thank you!" note for yourself or a loved one. A designed postcard with artwork from a local Serbian artist, wouldn't that be cool?
The Early Bird: You'll have full access to our first season's episodes before they get submitted to the podcast platforms and to the exclusive content, "behind the scenes". We'll officially recognize your support on our website and add your name on the "Supporters" page.
Digital Art Print- A5 size: Choose any one of the digital art prints for yourself! Marija Matić, Milica Babović and Anthony Brooks have amazing prints that you chose from. See below for artwork examples for each. You can tell us which one you want on our survey at end of the campaign.
Hand-printed Kickstarter-only items: Our artists Milica Babović and Anthony Brooks created amazing Kickstarter-only artworks just for you. We'll hand-print them on tote bags, t-shirts, and archival-quality paper. You can choose between any of these items and add it to your collection of artworks or designed clothing.
Sponsor of Podcast: We'll record a custom advertisement for you or your company and play it at the beginning of one episode. Or, you can choose to have Skype call with me! We'll talk about our project and anything else you prefer.
Original Signed Artwork: You can get one of the original artworks created by our artists! Milica, Anthony and Nikola Kosić will sign their work and send it to your caring hands.
Please note; most virtual rewards will be sent immediately after the campaign ends. This includes thank you emails, supporters list on the website, and Skype calls. The rewards requiring labor, such as postcards, designed items, and art prints will follow the timeline above. While anything requiring technical equipment, such as early bird podcast episodes, and custom advertisement, will be delivered after we get our equipment.
Fundraising Goals and Budget
$1,000 – Our official goal of $1,000 will cover the equipment to make this podcast possible. That includes web hosting, basic recording equipment, and software subscriptions.
$2,800 – This first stretch goal will allow us pay the creatives who have helped to breathe life into this campaign. Additionally it ensures us the means to fully fund and set up the studio space/recording area, including fixing our squeaky old floor. We'll also have a couch for guests to sit on during podcast interviews rather than the old salvaged chairs we're currently using :).
P.S. So far, everything we have in the studio is made out of found objects, from the desk to planters. We would like to keep this practice as both an environmental and social responsibility act, so that we’re not adding more to local waste management issues. Thus, all the future updates to the studio will be done with locally sourced, recycled materials where possible and your pledges will go towards the local employment of craftsmen.
$ 4,200 – We want to provide video to allow our audience to fully engage with the conversations. By that, we mean the visual emotion, the nuances not noticeable via audio, the artworks or works of the guests, etc... Additionally, we will acquire 2 condenser microphones to ensure a clearer, more dynamic sound for our listeners.
$ 10,000 - Our final goal allows us to upgrade our old laptop that functions and does the job, but whose battery doesn't have the best life (thus limiting our on-the-road recording options), takes forever, and is desperately in need of retirement. It also provides us the means to soundproof and sufficiently light our studio space for video, and gives us a solid chance at being sustainable for the first year!
Meet the team
Putting a project and a Kickstarter campaign together takes a lot of effort! Meet the team who made this possible. Many thanks to our friends who supported us with their precious feedback! Special thanks to Vlad Cuiujuclu for the amazing piece "The Good Life Elsewhere"!
Who we are
Iksvy art is an independent platform for artists and art professionals to connect and be part of future art projects. We are working towards being a facilitator of interdisciplinary art projects and a directory of visual arts.
With a focus on the neglected and divided art scene of Eastern Europe, we aim to connect local artists to each other and to the rest of the globe, while presenting the region as a source of inspiration and a common ground for everyone.
For iksvy art, nationalities or geographical borders do not define Eastern Europe, unlike the traditional Western approach. Anyone who’s based in the region, passed by and produced an artwork, or found a glimpse of inspiration even from miles away is part of this focus group. We are open to every single creative idea and project that aims to benefit the region without manipulating current and past issues.
Feel free to contacts us if you have any questions regarding the campaign or the initiative. It will be great to hear your ideas for future projects and artist suggestions!
Risks and challenges
This is a low risk project, and we’re going into it with preparation and passion. We've gotten quotes and have budgeted our needs. Starting the production will only take achieving our official goal. Not reaching our stretch goals will decelerate the improvement of the studio and our sustainability, which equals reducing our serotonin levels.
However, we promise to create and share great content with you no matter what the days bring, while hoping for your great support!
