Ikonic Toys Wooden Animals by Floris Hovers
Dutch Designer Floris Hovers (1976) designed this serie of wooden animals for the Dutch toy brand Ikonic Toys. The series exists out of 13 animals, and have the distinctive signature of Foris Hovers.
The shapes of the animals go back to the absolute essential, and the combination between colour and shape results in a strong composition the designer is most known for.
The material of the toys will be FSC certified beechwood, the paint will be matt. The bottom of each animal will be printed with the name of the animal, a logo and the name of Floris Hovers.
We are big fans of the work of Dutch designer Floris Hovers for many years. Floris Hovers (1976) graduated at the Design Academy Eindhoven, and runs his studio and workshop from Raamsdonksveer in the south of Holland. Floris is a well-known designer of furniture, toys and interior products. His designs are colorful, abstract and yet very playful.
Floris gained international fame with his iconic Archetoys, these steel miniature vehicles are produced by the well known Italian designlabel Magis, and can be found in the contemporary art collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
The set will be different than the ones in mass production, the serial numbers will be different, and the gift box will have a Kickstarter seal. Bonus reward: we will print the names of all the backers on the gift boxes!
It is only possible to pledge for the whole set.

Dutch Design Week
The campaign will be promoted and supported by Kickstarter and the Dutch Design Foundation. They selected the project for the exhibition 'Crowdfunding Dutch Design', in Eindhoven (NL) during the Dutch Design Week.

Risks and challenges
Toy design and production is a delicate thing. From the start of the project our approach is serious. We have visited factories, made samples, designed the packaging. We found FSC beechwood to use. A lot of effort went into coaching our factory to make the samples exactly like the original design of Floris. We have made toys before, but you'll never know. That's why it's called an adventure.
