We are toymaker Ikonic Toys from The Netherlands. We are a very young company, we design wooden toys, bring them into production and sell them all over the world. That’s what we do for 2 years now.
We are big fans of the work of Dutch designer Floris Hovers for many years. Floris is a well-known designer of furniture, toys and interior products. His designs are colorful, abstract and yet very playful.
Our dream was to have a new collection of toys designed by Floris Hovers, and he came back to us with these 6 beautiful cars.
Nowadays it is pretty hard to find toys that leave room for the child's’ imagination, and still do look good. The Duotone cars are inspired by cars of the past but do have that contemporary look where Floris is famous for.
The cars here on Kickstarter will be different than the ones in mass production, every car will have a unique serial number on the bottom and the gift box will have a Kickstarter seal.
Bonus reward: we will print the names of all the backers on the inside of the sleeve of the gift boxes!
The material of the cars is FSC certified beechwood, the wheels are made out of plastic, connected to the body with metal axes. The packaging will be made in The Netherlands. The cars will be produced in China, at a high end factory with excellent craftsmen. We have selected this factory because this facility produces toys for major European and American toy brands, and they are familiar with the latest toy safety requirements. All toys of Ikonic Toys are made in this factory.
Introduce some Dutch Design to your kids’ toy collection!
We love to put this collection into production, and we are looking for your support!

Risks and challenges
Toy design and production is a delicate thing. From the start of the project our approach is serious. We have visited factories, made samples, designed the packaging. We found FSC beechwood to use. A lot of effort went into coaching our factory to make the samples exactly like the original design of Floris. We have made toys before, but you'll never know. That's why it's called an adventure.
