A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

We’ll Keep You Warm
Heather™ from I Heat You™ is a portable, heated, versatile pad. Combining high tech with slow fashion and craftsmanship to keep you warm in your day to day life.
Powered via USB, you can use it all through your day – in the office, at a restaurant, at home or pretty much anywhere else. You decide where you want to be!
Heat – A Feminist Issue
We proudly say that we are a feminist company working with a feminist innovation. How does heat fit into the picture?
Well, back in the 1960s a group of people got together and decided on an ideal temperature for workplace environments. Great to have regulations to lean on when freezing your butt off.
The problem though is that they based it on average weight middle-aged men.
And why is that a problem, you might ask yourself. Well, the thing is that your gender and your body type impacts your metabolism, and your metabolism impacts how you react to different temperatures.
In other words, since women have a different metabolism than men, we are more likely to freeze our butts off at work. And since going around turning the heat up in all offices all over the world was not an option, we came up with another solution – Heather™!
Only your imagination limits the way you use Heather™ to stay warm. This is some that we’ve come up with so far.
When on the move, Heather™ is easy to fold up to store in your bag. You can bring your Heather™ anywhere.
Take a minute and think of how many different USB-ports you have close to you in your day to day life. They are everywhere!
If you have a computer or a laptop – you have a USB-port.
You probably charge your phone or smartwatch with a charger connected with USB – there you have another one.
If you like us started the hunt for remarkable AR-animals two years ago, you are probably the owner of a power bank or three.
Many hotels, not at all as many as there should be but at least some, have realized our need for USB-power and have USB-ports close to the bed enabling phone charging – and Heather™ heat.
There are several other solutions to find. Like this one from a huge Swedish (of course) furniture retailer.
And this is why we chose to power Heather™ via USB. It is the easiest way for you to keep warm at all times!
What’s Your Flavor?
Like the members of our team, people all over the world have different styles and tastes. This is why Heather™ comes in different colors to fit into your life and style.
Lollypop pink for the bolder ones, those wanting to stand out from the crowd, looking to make a statement or who just simply love pink;
And subtle salty licorice;
Or smooth toffee to blend into any office environment.

Geeky Details And Tech Stuff
Heather™ combines high tech with slow fashion and Swedish design. And this is how we do it.
Slow Fashion Made To Last
The outside is wool felt, OEKO-TEX® certified, with all the amazing qualities that come with high-quality wool.
Natural material – no plastics – only air, grass, sunshine, and water.
Biodegradable – when wool fiber is disposed of, it will naturally decompose into the soil in a matter of years, slowly releasing valuable nutrients back into the earth.
Renewable – wool is a completely renewable fiber.
Stain resistant – wool fibers have a natural protective outer layer that helps prevent stains from being absorbed. And because wool tends not to generate static, it attracts less dust and lint.
Fire resistant – the inherent chemical structure makes wool naturally flame resistant.
What About The Heat?
Silver threads embedded in a thin chord are embroidered onto a thin fabric. The heating element is then placed between the wool felt, and everything is sewn together by our local team of seamstresses.
The textile USB-cord allows you to connect to any USB-port and you can keep warm whenever you need to, wherever you are.
Heather™ is powered via USB. Using a USB-port with 2.1 Ampere output, she will give you 10 Watts. Keeping you warm and comfortable – all day long.
Some USB-ports have 1 Ampere output that will give you a lower level of heat.
Charging And Power
How long your Heather™ can keep you warm correlates to the capacity of your power source. At work, we connect our Heather™ to our laptops, which are connected to a charger. In other words, our Heather™ lasts all day.
At home, we usually connect it with any USB adapter to a regular outlet – as long as you have electricity, you can stay warm.
When on the move or during a power blackout, we use any power bank. The most powerful power bank that we have has a 10 000 mAh capacity and keeps us warm for at least 4 hours. If you want to fika* longer than that, just bring another power bank.
*fika is the Swedish word for taking a break and having coffee (or any other non-alcoholic beverage) and preferably something sweet like a cinnamon bun with (or without) friends
More About Us
Femingo AB is the Swedish startup behind I Heat You™. To create a more equal world we are working with Feministic Innovation on Gotland – FEM IN GO.
The I Heat You™ Story
Our story started back in 2016. Emma, sick of always freezing, decided to find a way to keep women warm in all situations. Enabling them to do so without having to make any style sacrifices.
Emma put together the team of awesomeness, and since then we have scanned the market for technical solutions, tried out different designs to find which one to perfect, worked with focus groups to make sure our solution truly fit our users, planned for production, tested the quality and so much more.
The Team Of Awesomeness
We are a diverse team with different background, knowledge, and personalities. Between us, we have more than 50 years of experience in innovating, designing, and launching products.
What we do have in common is that we all live on and love Gotland – a magical Swedish island in the Baltic Sea. We are women with different areas of expertise who are all passionate about I Heat You™ and making the world more equal.
We are ready to begin production. Yay! And this is where Kickstarter and you come in. The funding that we get from this Kickstarter campaign will fund the first series of production.
You choose if you just want to back us with a small or larger amount and then get our newsletter (if you want to) or if you want to take the opportunity to be one of the first people in the world in possession of a Heather™.
Of course we have a better offer for all you early adopters and loving supporters than the rest of the world will have later on.
As soon as the Kickstarter campaign is finished and we have reached our goals, we will start production. Shipping is planned to start at the end of November 2018. In other words, if everything goes as planned, you will have your Heather™ (or why not Heathers – we’ll bet there are other people close to you freezing as well) in time for Christmas.
The Time Line
Heather™ will retail at SEK 2199, around USD 249 and EUR 214. Of course we have great offers for our backers on Kickstarter! Please note that all pledged prices are in Swedish.
Want More Than One
If you want to have more than one Heather™ just double, tripple, quadruple or... well, you get the drill... the amount that you pledge. We will contact you after the campaign to make sure you get the colors that you want!
We will ship Heather™ worldwide via trackable post. Please note that you may be responsible for duties, handling, fees and taxes applicable to your region, for more info check the FAQ.
Risks and challenges
We have all suppliers and manufacturers of Heather in place. All of them are in Europe, Germany and the Netherlands, allowing us to have a close relationship to secure both deliveries and quality. The final steps, where all parts are sawn together, are performed by our seamstresses here in Visby, Sweden. However, there are always risks when working with new products. We are of course trying to predict everything that can cause delays, and have good margins.
We are minimizing the risk of delays by
– Staying in close contact to our manufacturers
– Quality testing prototypes and final samples before production
– Keeping the number of suppliers and steps of the chain as low as possible
– Due to short distances in Europe and free trade within the EU we are keeping shipping to a minimum - no containers lost at sea or stuck in a port somewhere on the other side of the world
Being a startup we don’t have the forecasting capabilities that you would have as a big company. With that said, between us we do have experience from designing, innovating and launching products and brands which exceeds 50 years. Not even taking into account the experience from our mentors, incubator and other supporters.
We do have working prototypes that has already passed the necessary technical and user tests. However, like with any product in final stages of development, Heather may experience further design changes, specifically related to the materials used in its production and the heating element.
Should this happen, it would be to improve Heather to be more user friendly and minimizing our environmental footprints. In any case, will work to resolve issues as quickly as possible and keep our backers notified.
We want to make sure that each time you use your Heather™, you will feel warm and comfortable. We believe that you will love her as much as we do, and we’re committed to delivering the most positive backer experience possible – so you hopefully will love us as much as your Heather™.
Spilled coffee all over your clothes? Had a long business meeting? Don’t you worry, we love you anyway and you can still get Heather in the classic salty licorice at the still very good A Bit Late offer.
